The SEC, or at least Georgia, is threatening to take their ball and go home. They seem more than willing to break away and play their own game. Smart’scomments about the SEC title game being for the national championship (second
) aside, it’s a giant gamble to return to a regional sport (talk about wanting to go back to the good old days). I don’t think they quite realize that yes, they have their rabid fans of course, but the only reason they make the money they do is as many people tune in rooting against them as do to root for them. They need both to keep the kind of cash flow they seem to take for granted.
