You're the one complaining about roster construction. The BEST way to get kids in the portal to come to Ohio State is to piss off homegrown players from the Columbus area. Holy hell, someone get Bjork's email! BM11 has figured it out! :lol:

@Mike80 if you want to laugh please explain how a coach possibly being hard set on sticking with position promises to players is helpful to the team when that player always being at the promised position isn't helping the team.

Sometimes you have to break promises for the sake of the team and if the players can't understand that then I guess it's just too bad. This is where you hit the wall when you have a "nice guy" coach. Sometimes those difficult decisions have to be made for the good of the success of the team and if Diebler is unwilling to do that he's definitely not the guy.

Lower seeds keeping it close. Just goes to show the parity that we have in the NCAA. There's no continuity like there was before and the transfer portal and the one and dones have created glorified AAU teams. The mid majors with less talent but more upperclassmen and players who have played together for a few years can easily knock off these top teams full of prima donnas who have already made their money and have their eyes on the next level.

I think in hindsight, much of Punch's confidence & comment was based on the expectation of matching up against Tilly. He owned Tilly in this game & OSU played right into his hands by not changing the lineup more.

I mean, it's not even something you had to adjust on the fly. I said before the game, this looked like a game where a Devin Royal small ball lineup would work. I still think the NIL thing is without some context. That's money spent not funds available. We were reportedly in on guys like Swain Peterson and Williams until the end. Who knows how much money ended up going unspent because we got burnt waiting on those guys and had to settle for scraps by the time they decided for elsewhere. I'm not saying we have a scUM money at all but I don't think the situation is as awful as some want to think.

This is why we need to be better at highlighting the best more realistic options Instead of hoping and waiting on those high high level types.

Yeah, that's what worries me the most, NIL. The best players are expensive, and I don't think OSU is going to provide NIL that allows for them to get those types of players. So the coaches have to outsmart the competition - you could say maybe they did that with Amare Bynum, but no one else they added a year ago was really the type of player that helped them win more than a hypothetical average replacement player would have. The hit rate on transfers needs to go way up, I realize they need to have a certain quantity of players for practice & emergency depth reasons, but that can't be more than half the roster.
