YOUR 2016 Cleveland Indians Thread (American League CHAMPS!)

Here's the "Major" signing of the offseason.......

Mike Napoli (would had been good 2 years ago)

http://nesn.com/2015/12/report-mike-napoli-indians-come-to-terms-on-one-year-contract/

Mike Napoli’s tour of the American League is about to reach the AL Central.

The veteran first baseman
has agreed to terms with the Cleveland Indians on a one-year contract, FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported Tuesday. Rosenthal also reported Napoli is expected to be the Tribe’s starting first baseman. Napoli will make $7 million, plus another potential $3 million in incentives, CBS Sports’ Jon Heyman reported.

Napoli started the 2015 season with the Boston Red Sox and struggled mightily at times. The first baseman was then moved prior to the trade deadline to the Texas Rangers. He appeared to be revitalized with Texas, hitting .295 — 88 points higher than he did in Boston — over 35 games while also hitting five home runs. He finished the 2015 season with 18 home runs and 50 RBIs.

The Indians likely are hoping Napoli can get back to or near his 2013 level of production. Napoli hit .259 with 23 home runs and 92 RBIs in 2013, helping the Red Sox to a World Series title.

I guess it could pay off if he picks up where he left off at the end of the year in Texas....but I'm not holding my breath on that. Another career 250 hitter past his prime, gotta love the team strategy

I guess what the hell are they going to do with Santana because he hates being a DH and even as stated that. I mean for the money that they paid Napoli I think they could have done a little better. I do not know maybe they would have had to add a couple more million but I still think they could have done better.

This is actually a DECENT minor league signing

http://www.mlbdailydish.com/2015/12/17/10408508/indians-sign-joe-thatcher

Thatcher, 34, posted a 3.18 ERA in 43 appearances with the Astros last season after signing a minor-league deal with Houston in February. His numbers were inflated by a higher walk rate than usual (4.8 BB/9), though he was still able to strike out 26 batters in 22.2 innings of work.

He has posted a lifetime 11-16 record and 3.38 ERA in 405 relief appearances.
