Please tell me you people suggesting that OSU back out of the Gator Bowl don't really believe that is a viable option...

Tough blow for next year's seniors...

I would leave everyone home who is responsible for this mess. No way would Boom, Posey, or anyone else who was a repeat offender board the plane to Florida.

You know Boom, the MVP and co-captain... :shake:

A small, paranoid part of me almost thinks that the NCAA looked at OSU coming out of this with Meyer as the coach and said, "Fuck that, they don't get to benefit from this situation, we need to hit them harder".

I also wonder if, based on him telling recruits no bowl ban was coming, that Meyer was misled before he took the job.

I made ten tin-foil hats after reading this message.

Because it rang true.

Who do we look at AD if/when Gene is canned?

He was burned out, which led to his retirement, but it's at these times some cry for Andy Geiger (although OSU had issues under Geiger too).

Maybe the guy from New Mexico who worked with Coach Meyer at BGSU.

Paul Krebs.

I hope Kaplan gets a serious look.

And for those worried about current verbals like Dunn, take step back from the ledge...

Everybody needs to step back and relax a little. One year is hardly crippling. Next year was still going to be a bit of a rebuidling year any way you look at it. New coach, new system, many new starters...chances are, they were probably looking at a Gator Bowl-ish berth anyway. Use next year to perfect a new system, gain experience, then come out with an enormous chip on their shoulder in 2013. I don't think this is as bad as people are making it out to be, honestly...

No one garunteed Meyere anything. They told him the facts, there was no presidence for a bowl ban. Thats exactly what Meyer told the recruits. Its no ones fault, none of us expected this. The NCAA is garbage. We punished the people involved and now they are only punishing kids next year who had NOTHING to do with what happened.

The NCAA is just using this to prove to themselves that they aren't impotent. We should have proposed no penalties, because whatever we would have proposed, they would have added onto anyways. If we would have self imposed a bowl ban this year, they would have just added one next year as well. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves.

To take your path is to take the first step down the SEC highway.
You mean the SEC that wins the fucking BCS championship every year? That SEC?

Cooperate = harsher punishment
Not cooperate/stonewall = SEC championships

You make the choice.
and before you go all sanctimonious with me, remember all the $$$ involved.

All I can say is that Gene Smith's sources at the NCAA suck. The self-imposed punishment for the violations were all based on what he had heard back from his contacts at the NCAA as well as past precedent. This whole process was so unbelievably mishandled from the beginning that it defies belief.

Regardless, we did the crime now we gotta do the time.
