But somehow their punishments will be less.

Screw the contracts, back out, take whatever monetary penalty there is. The NCAA would never accept it because it would screw over Florida.

Yeah, OSU could do this, but it probably wouldn't be a smart move for three reasons.
i) As you noted, the NCAA would probably still enforce the ban next season
ii) The awarded monetary damages would probably be pretty substantial
iii) Just as a general principle, I doubt OSU wants to be in the position of screwing over innocent third-parties, like UF, the Gator Bowl, and all the businesses that are planning to make money from the event. That kind of thing can come back to bite you.

I think if we had self-imposed a 5 year ban, they would have added another year, just to prove they are still in control.

Lesson learned... Don't cooperate with the NCAA...Make them actually DO their job and search for findings. Plain and simple. As '513 said (i believe) "now we just tell them to get off our lawn"
