It's probably already been said, but anyone with some half-way decent Photoshop skills could have a field day with that picture.

The Mike Leach book is out and it details ESPiN's role in his getting fired.

"But now, thanks to Texas Tech’s status as a state-funded institution, emails obtained through open records requests by Leach and his attorneys show a concerted effort by Craig James and paid agents of the ESPN analyst to materially impact ESPN’s editorial approach to Leach’s untimely departure from Texas Tech."

3. Ohio State is letting Tressel get off free, waiving the fee that the NCAA levied upon him.

Wrong again. Does anyone at that company do research? Tressel was forced out at tOSU, and was prepping to take the University to court (a decision that could have gotten him millions in a contract buy out). Ohio State waived the fee, Tress dropped the case, and the University will pay him his final $52k, and the Tressel era will be officially off the books.

Considering the "for cause" termination clause in Tressel's contract, I'd have to say Tress is an optimist....

I do not buy that theory at all. I mean, a little grease to allow a clean break is fine, but the odds of him winning "millions of dollars" - considering the conduct that caused his departure - is rather far fetched. Sounds more like a gentleman's agreement thing that could be justified as being as cheap as the minimum legal fees of any potential legal challenge, no matter how unsuccessful it would be. Just good business practice.

That was an unfortunate failure to follow the terms of the contract in the way his termination should have been handled procedurally. There was never any question that tOSU was within its rights in firing him after he committed a major violation. A needed step was just skipped on the way there, and I have to say (I did pull up that decision and read it a while ago) that whole fiasco should have been avoided.

But I guess, even thought tOSU clearly had the right to fire Tress, it could be argued that tOSU "waived" that right by virtue of his retention after they learned of the conduct. I would hope to God that tOSU struck some sort of agreement with Tressel specifically reserving their right to invoke the "for cause" termination clause while the thing was playing out pending final NCAA adjucication. I'd hate to think that Smith would put y'all in a position where Tress might have a show cause order entered against him essentially terminating his job as tOSU's coach, yet tOSU have no future recourse in terminating him under 5.0 - and wind up having to pay him millions.

Smith could not have been that dim.

Bottom of page 11 through 12 is the clause that governs.

The thing is that nobody at espin even denies it. There was at least some acknowledgement of their agenda after they went after Ohio State during the Clarett fiasco. Didn't they hire an ombudsman? That guys tenure was short lived.

espin is a joke, but they have a monopoly on the sports information market. The fact that they have made it their mission to destroy Ohio State is unfortunate, but they have the tools at their disposal.

I know there has been a ton of lawyer speak on here lately and, frankly, I can't bring myself to wade through it. With the goings on at Auburn, Oregon, and North Carolina and the overall ABSENCE of reporting on those situations, and the zeal with which ESPiN is covering OSU, couldn't Ohio State show some sort of malice in ESPiNs coverage of them?

A bit OT, but here's an overview of the NCAA's investigation into all the programs that ESPN's not covering.

The stuff at North Carolina is especially damning, given that it involves academic fraud. Perish the thought that the four letter network talk about problems at the same school as one of their favorite basketball programs.

Yeah. Or John Calipari? They love Kentucky too!

I remember hearing Dick Vitale on Mike and Mike and listening to him talk about Jim Tressel and "you can't mess with integrity."

Then he has the unmitigated gall to talk about John Calipari not getting the credit he deserves as a coach. He actually said these words: He's never been connected to any of the wrong doings at Memphis or UMASS. While those words may be true, how the [censored] can a network "analyst" be that hypocritical.

He can bad mouth a coach like Tress and sing the praises of a coach like Calipari.

EDIT Again, looking at that list: How has espin not reported ANYTHING on UNC???
