Can't waste the day when the night brings a hearse

He's not protecting Ohio State--only Smith--by keeping silent at this point. If he truly loves Ohio State, he should want the TRUTH to get out and this self-serving cancer out of the university.
At this stage in the game--having been forced out of the job and with inevitable LOIC sanctions headed down the pike--there's nothing to be gained by protecting Smith. There's no logic or rationale to it that I can discern. JT is absolutely free to come forward with anything at this point.
It is common human nature to out people to protect yourself, but not everyone does that. Sometimes you find out more about a person when they don't throw people under the bus even when it is obvious that there is something up. Sometimes people are ok with allow due process to take place. JT has stood for years on his faith. Making mistakes is human nature, we have all done it. Maybe throwing Smith under the bus doesn't sit right with him. What good would it actually do for the university. He not only would be throwing Smith under the bus but also all the kids he mentored. He could be showing some that you don't need to retaliate to things. Look how he handled MoC. He never threw him out as a liar. He allowed time to site he was upright. Sorry you feel his lack of openness is a sign of guilt but it can't be measured that way.
