For me, at this point, just burn the damn thing to the ground... not only OSU football, but College football in its entirety, including the NCAA. This [Mark May] has stank long enough... time to start again, with a new set of rules
Overreaction to a finding that some Ohio State players appear to have regarded NCAA compliance as not applicable to them. I'm disappointed in what appears to be really overweening greed and disdain for rules, the team, and the coach by some players.

I'm on record as saying "this kind of stuff" happens everywhere. But that was before "this kind of stuff" became this kind of stuff.

as long as anyone from the current compliance department is employed, including Gene Smith, i will not root for Ohio State.

gonna suck to be a UNLV fan this year...

I don't understand this.

There are at least 75 other kids on that team that need our support more than ever, and have done nothing to not deserve it, compliance be damned.

Finally, and I'm not minimizing anything here, but from an NCAA perspective Pryor has already admitted receiving improper benefits. Does it matter whether it was $500 worth or $40,000 worth? This is a serious question - not sure these revelations have much impact on sanctions (though I agree they will likely be large). Also, the fact Talbott was warned away from the program doesn't mean the athletic department "knew" that these specific violations were occurring. If in fact they were, which now seems likely.

I'm guessing it does have an effect.

A kid going to a shady tattoo parlor and swapping some gear for tattoos is a very different thing than what appears to be an organized, large scale autograph scheme.

With the tattoo deal, there is at least some plausible deniability, i.e., "It was MY stuff" - not so with the autograph deal.

If the autographs-for-cash allegations are true, I think OSU is looking at USC level issues with the NCAA.

If any of the ESPN article is true, OSU goose is cooked. I thought most of this was just hype, but it appears now TP had entire network of people helping him out in c-bus.

This is not good for the Big Ten at all or any of the Big Ten teams.

Its C-Bus. "C-Town" is Cleveland.

/really wish I could argue with everything else you said

that's all you got? I paused for 5 seconds before deciding I did want to buy my dad's alumni tickets and I was kicked out of the allowed-to-be-a-buckeye-fan club for a day.

This sources shouldn't be hard to figure out. How many people were with TP everyday? If the source was so close to the action, how did he come up with $20K-$40K that's a big margin.

Brandon Joe is on record as saying its Henton. But he left after the '08 season. If its him, we're talking about just Pryor's freshman season. SHEEEEIIIT! Multiply that number by at least 3.

My college career at OSU began with Coop's hiring, so I'm well equipped with the experience to be a Buckeye fan whether we're on top or not. I am ALWAYS a Buckeye. :oh::io:

Someone earlier made a comment about the bandwagon fans jumping off- the last few years I've thought that things had really gotten out of hand with that (if that's possible). Obviously, I like winning as much as anybody, but it just seemed that everything was getting too big. Scalping tickets? Forget it- big bucks for games vs. MAC teams. Bandwagon idiots all over the place, many of them giving our fan base a bad name. Again, not that I object to success, but it might be nice to have a couple of years flying under the radar a bit to allow some of the extra crap to go away.

This sucks. But we're Buckeyes, and we have a fantastic University and a bunch of guys on the football team who really want to play for the right reasons, and we need to support them.

One last thought- these asshole "booster" business people in Columbus. Car dealers, photographer, whatever- If we know who they are, we should boycott them. They're screwing our University, and they should pay somehow. Hit 'em where it hurts. If you know who these businesses are and you or people you know frequent them, then stop. There must be enough fans in the area to put a dent in their business.

What grinds me is that every kid who comes to tOSU on an athletic scholarship knows what is expected of them. This kind of ncaa news goes on so much that it would be impossible for anyone not to be aware. Couple that with the compliance classes I'm sure that Tress and the other coaches held and there is absolutely no reason for a student not to know how they are expected to act as a Buckeye. What they have to do and what they are not to do.
I'm sorry that these kids even came to school here and played for us, and to me they are not Buckeyes and will not be from now on unless they get their act straight and graduate from school.
They have fallen below the standards that I expect from a Buckeye athelete and don't deserve to be treated as such.
Sorry if you don't agree but this is the way I feel.

I totally agree with this. Anyone who has the guts to do this [Mark May] tells me they don't care at all about the honor of being a Buckeye.

 :sad2: Sorry.

To be fair, I was under assumption that he was a Buckeye Hoops fan also. There's a little more leeway given to full time fans. :p
