I can see how you feel that way. Gators were thumped for our cheating in 83-87. We won our first SEC Title in 1990. They took it away for the sins of the 1983 guys. But we started our 91-2001 Spurrier Golden Years. FSU was thumped just a couple years ago. Hell, they are recruiting great and on with their lives.

This will be over quicker than you think. But you will be plunger raped more before the tide turns. That is when being about your school instead of about your football team will be the life preserver. I'm a Gator for life, damn it, not the product of Charlie Pell's recruiting shenanigans. You are a Buckeye, not merely the hanger on of a winning football team. The band wagon guys jump ship - and we pick up the season tickets we could not get before. [censored] 'em. This too shall pass.

Yeah right about the time my 4 year old is enrolled at Northwestern

Can I just ask this?.....

How is someone able to sell all of their gear with autographs without the Athletic Department asking where it went????

Could Pryor be arrested for stealing university property on top of tax evasion?

The university, irregardless of the free reign Pryor and others had, should seek repayment for stolen gear, IMO.

Am I taking crazy pills? Seriously...?

From the story on ESPN (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=6637444), we have the following:

He said Pryor was paid $500 to $1,000 each time he signed mini football helmets and other gear for a Columbus businessman and freelance photographer, Dennis Talbott.

...

He said Pryor would get the merchandise to sign from Talbott, who would "bring it to TP, and he would sign it and he would bring him cash. Dennis would give him cash."
Sounds like the memorabilia was supplied by Talbott, not by TP, at least as far as the story states. Also, if it were mini helmets, then obviously it wasn't stolen Athletic Department gear.

That doesn't mean that tomorrow's story might not be about TP taking equipment--but today's story doesn't seem to implicate TP in that kind of activity.

NCAA violations, yes. Potential tax fraud (I don't know what he declared as income), yes. Theft of Ohio State athletic department equipment, not mentioned in this story.

He could have stolen it from mini Ohio State

they did there is internal audits on all equipment in the department. They showed huge quantities of stuff missing, not much was done about it.

I expect that what we're missing is concrete evidence showing that compliance and/or smith were informed.

For me, at this point, just burn the damn thing to the ground... not only OSU football, but College football in its entirety, including the NCAA. This shit has stank long enough... time to start again, with a new set of rules

I speculated at this very possibility a while ago after TP's alleged "I get whatever I want" quote. If they knew this stuff was disappearing and being sold (what the fuck else would it be getting stolen for. A fucking 10 year old could figure that one out), it is a 'pay for play' scheme plain and simple. And the NCAA nuke will be hitting Columbus. Prepare our Anuses!

JFC! There should be an orange foreclosure notice sticker on the doors of the compliance department tomorrow. Maybe BG or Ohio U can pick up a cheap compliance department at auction...WTF!?

My understanding was that Talbott brought memorabilia for Pryor to sign, which he then did.

As for market value of such stuff, which I commented on before - maybe we just found out what it is.

Finally, and I'm not minimizing anything here, but from an NCAA perspective Pryor has already admitted receiving improper benefits. Does it matter whether it was $500 worth or $40,000 worth? This is a serious question - not sure these revelations have much impact on sanctions (though I agree they will likely be large). Also, the fact Talbott was warned away from the program doesn't mean the athletic department "knew" that these specific violations were occurring. If in fact they were, which now seems likely.
