I recall ESPN's hard on Tressel/tOSU in 2003/4. The University was investigated twice, and exonerated twice.

I like evidence. So far, I haven't seen any.

Yes, and in light of that, it would seem that the worldwide leader would be jumping on the bandwagon in general... and it's just been a little nod here, some news there.

They've had well over 12 hours to get their guns sighted in.

I think they knew this was coming. And I think they basically know what the substance level is.

If you were an informant looking to give a reporter a scoop, do you go to Yahoo first?

Having said that, Yahoo has to have more than this, I mean, if their whole story hinges on the FOIA request to turns something up, then they deserve whatever ridicule they get. I was thinking too that this all hinges too much on what they think Gene Smith was saying at the original presser. But, then, what other choice do they have? The odd thing to me is the references all the way back to 2009 and this "incident" in April of '10... there may, indeed already have been dosclosures to the NCAA about a trail of knowledge of things before the Attorney General contacted the school, but were irrelevant to the timeline at hand... and, I shared ORD's distaste of throwing compliance under the bus at the time, but, maybe there's a reason. (Ie, some idiot DID inform Tress that maybe somethign intoward was going on? What would he do with that info? )

Another thing to consider is that--even if JT did make this lapse of judgement--he's no Pete Carroll/Pat Dye (deny, deny...always deny) type. It may never come down to what yahoo can dig up or prove. It may be more a matter of JT admitting everything to Gee and taking his lumps.

I'll discuss what those lumps should be only if things take that tragic turn.

I'm going to reserve judgment until I know what JT knew, when he knew it and what he did about it. I cannot help but think that at the time, he was convinced that he was doing the right thing. Until I have a reason not to be, I am 100% behind our coach.

You know I have kept my comments to myself up to this point. But I have to jump in and say that it just doesn't seem to add up. Why would JT sweep it under the carpet? It's just not his MO. The guy is class and has always strived to do the right thing. So to deliberatly lie to protect these 5 and in doing so risk his career and legacy? Does that sound like Tress to any of you?

Call me crazy, but JT admitting guilt almost smells like he'd be falling on his sword to protect the university. Buck stops here kind of thing.

Ok, just needed to get that off my chest...I hope beyond hope I'm just digging too deep here.

On a side note...I'm wearing my OSU fleece proudly right now...no matter what happens at 7pm! Go Bucks!
