Yep. This is the society we live in. If you print it enough times or post it on the Internet a large segment of the population will take it as the gospel truth. Other sites (forums) are already ripping Simon and Klein's dads because no Pulitzer winner would ever lie. What a crock.

I also read that this Pulitzer winner quoted the Youngstown State President in the article without interviewing him.... hmmm.... Solid work.

Allowing prohibited behavior to occur when you could stop it is enabling...and that has been going on here. So we can prolly stop pointing the finger at other programs and look in the mirror for a change.
I asked if you could see a difference between the school negotiating a price for a player vs players seeking their own benefits. You replied with this:
No, I don't see a difference in turning a blind eye to it versus any other form of enabling it. Sorry you feel differently.
So you're referring to Auburn as either "turning a blind eye" or "enabling"......neither of which they did. They negotiated a price for a player and then the player's dad got paid. There is a difference. What we did was bad.....what they did was worse. To act like we aren't allowed to question the ethics of the dirty cheaters of the SEC* just because some greedy OSU players took what asshole boosters gave them is wrong.

*note for Gator: dirty cheats of the SEC refers to any program in the SEC that actually is a dirty cheater. it does not say all SEC teams are dirty cheaters.

Not to be a debbie downer...

Really the only problem with any suit is SI will then say 'memorabilia' could be stuff he took from the locker room and/or autograph pictures. And he could have gotten money versus tats. But maybe the resident lawyers here can expound on that.

But the key is if a few players can make a loud enough stink about it the court of public opinion could knock the SI article down a few pegs.

Any defamation or false light suit would be an uphill slog. I just finished torts with a prof who lives for this stuff. He just retired from teaching and would probably love to consult on a case like this if the accusations are false. Below is the link to his law reveiw article on the Duke LaCrosse episode.

I don't know how some people here can defend TP and Tressel. Is it just just blind loyalty with no sense? Look at the totality of what has been going on at OSU. Just on TP's car deals, I guess since he FINALLy figured out he was being investigated, he goes to his mom to have HER buy the latest car he was riding around in scot-free, right? I don't know what used car dealership has a policy of letting customers continually receiving nice cars to drive for FREE while their car is 'being repaired', it sure seems like TP had the worse luck of anyone I've ever heard of in regards to having car problems.

Take off the scarlet and cream colored glasses and step into reality, Buckeye people. THE Ohio State University football team is likely going to be LUCKY if the NCAA hits them with similar sanctions of USC's. LOIC will probably added and they'll get the worst sanctions yet...and they deserve them.
I just don't know how you'd think we'd wear "scarlet and cream" colored glasses.

I'm gonna go slightly off topic and throw on my tinfoil hat right now. So the person who claimed Tressel rigged the raffles was an assistant with him here. Well, it turns out that one Chuck Heater coached the DBs in 1985, Tressel's last year as an assistant. Some might remember Heater as being a scUM running back from '71-'74. Coincidence? I think not. :tinfoil:

Why does it seem like ESPN (on all platforms) is trying to make the NCAA's decision for them (lack of institutional control mentioned in every story, bowl ban, loss of scholarships, etc.)?

It seems like the network is trying to tell both Ohio State and the NCAA what to do.

Meh, been saying that since the Clarett days... Media is in the driver seat, NCAA rides shotgun.
