So... having not read today's postings.... can I assume that the last several pages have been rendered with the understanding that what has come out publicly has virtually nothing to do with what has been told to the NCAA privately?

In other words - I trust all of you are working under the assumption that this piece of news isn't "new" to Ohio State or the NCAA, even if it's new to the media....

Well first, are we still at the point where we trust this investigation has been handled so well by OSU that there could not possibly be any new information that comes to light?

Secondly, even if it is known to OSU and the NCAA it doesn't change the fact that its new info to the public and could very well render a different decision from the NCAA than what we thought would come before. That is discussion worthy I would think.

Lastly, if nothing else its important information for Buckeye fans at least to help continue to fill in the missing pieces. It sure seems to have swayed some opinions since it came out.

Yeah, I am. I don't have any reason to not think Ohio State has been anything but forthcoming to the NCAA. Have been before, so that's my assumption here.

Likewise, Tressel, Smith and Gee might be a lot of things, but it's a pretty tough road for you to hoe to convince me they're stupid.

Meh... I learned during the Mo C investigation, I've got better things to do with my time than worry about shit like this. It'll work out the way it works out. Not a lot I can do about it.

Depends on how you mean that. If the NCAA is going strictly on the evidence before them, and if we assume this e-mail was already part of the file, I believe you are quite wrong.

If, however, the NCAA is more interested in public perception - then, you have a point.

I was gonna say this in my paragraph above, but it fits better here. I don't have a problem with people discussing it. Not one bit.

As I was just saying - no issue with people discussing it or trying to fit it all together. I personally think it's silly to go making decisions as if things like "lack of institutional control" are in play now because the media learned something it didn't know yesterday, even if Ohio State and the NCAA did. But, that's me....

Like I said, personally, I'm not losing any sleep over this.

It really doesn't matter what the relationship was though.

It is almost impossible to interpret the forwarding of the email as anything other than a "help me get TP to knock this shit off" message. This of course would have to mean that JT knew the violations had occurred, was intent on keeping it in house and really wasn't as concerned with confidentiality as he tried to portray.

This all gives the NCAA investigators something tangible to interpret as proof of obstrufication if they so choose and that is most certainly a big deal.

I was just putting the info out there for the people on the board, I made no implications about what it means in terms of the investigation. If I were someone reading about this for the first time, it certainly would matter to me if a party involved had been serving as a guardian in the recruiting process (beyond OSU's involvment), rather than just a businessman who liked hanging around star HS athletes.

And by not losing any sleep, I don't mean regarding just this new information. I mean the whole story.

I don't know.. maybe I've got my head buried in the sand. Frankly, I just want to see the Buckeyes score some fucking touchdowns.

I want to see them shoot lights out from everywhere on the floor and beat the shit out of the Wildcats.

If I lose any sleep right now, it's because of the basketball team, which is unfortunately not getting the attention it deserves. :(

Tonight I'll settle for a ton of baskets.

And I may close this thread during the tOSU-Ky game tonight. Because Mods and Admins should be able to enjoy the hoops game this evening without worrying about what's being posted over here.

Case in point as to what I said earlier about "new" information....

10TV just lead in the piece on the email with the words "new allegations"

Here's the thing, folks.... the media isn't in the business of making "allegations" let alone "new" ones with regard to the NCAA.... or anything else, for that matter.
