XBox 360, PS3 or Wii? ( ESPN on 360 for TWC)

Heres an interesting question. Given the original post in this thread, if you could go back with the knowledge we have today and have just one system, which one you would choose? Take in account game libraries, overall cost, system reliability, fun factor, unique controllers/devices, other features, etc...which system would you choose now that all 3 systems have matured?

I've only had the PS3 and Wii myself, I've got two buddies that have all 3.
Two years ago I would have said the Wii. After playing the hell out of Wii Sports, Zelda, and a few other titles I thought the system was going to destroy PS3 and X-Box. On the other hand, I find that I rarely play the system today, once in a blue moon a worthy title seems to come around. Today I would say PS3 as I spend about 95% of my console time there, although I don't have an X-Box so I can't say in that regard.
One of my buddies with all three systems chooses PS3 as well, as it came down to that or the X-Box and he's had a few red rings of death that did it in for him. The other buddy chose X-Box over all 3.

The Wii is cool - in terms of controls it was definitely ahead of its time. They did some cool things to take advantage of that with early titles, but they haven't expanded on it. Tiger Woods PGA Tour was made for this. MarioKart is cool too. Super Mario Bros. Wii is perhaps the best Mario game since the original trilogy IMO, but it does little to take advantage of the Wii's strengths as a console. Past that I just don't have too much interest. Even the WiiWare/Virtual Console offerings have become rather tired.

To me it's a neck and neck race between the 360 and PS3 for best all-around. As this thread indicates, I decided between the two myself recently. I chose the PS3, though I could definitely see the merits of the 360. For me it came down to Blu-ray capability and free access to online services.

I have been in the market for a device to play movies on my NAS and Netflix on the living room TV. I have been looking at Blu ray players (Sam's has a Sony with built in WiFi and 3D for $140). But after doing some research, it appears that the DLNA abilities of these devices may not like iTunes very well?

So then I got to thinking, might as well buy another PS3 and get a great Bluray player with 3D, Netflix, media server. Used Slims are in the $200-$250 range.

What about getting one of the XBox 4GB with Kinect; already have a Bluray player anyways. Maybe I could talk the wife into jumping around and playing some of those Kinect games; sorry Romper Room for the rest of that thought. Anyways; I am not overly concerned about playing games online with the 360. But do want to network it and do Netflix. Can you do that with a 360 without Xbox live?

When I was doing my research on which console to buy a few months ago, I saw that Xbox LIVE Gold is required for Netflix. That was what ended up swaying me to the PS3 - I already pay for a subscription to Netflix, I didn't see a reason to pay for it twice.

FWIW, the Wii is highly modifiable and plays Netflix.

Anyone receive a 10% off from Best Buy for the next 4-5 days? I have some gift cards I want to use and reserve Tiger Woods '12. Anyone know if I could use that coupon to reserve/pay for a future release?

Ok...we are leaning towards the Xbox because she wants the Kinect.

So here's my question...do the hard drive sizes really matter? The most affordable bundle I've found on eBay is for the Xbox 4GB with the Kinect.

If you plan on installing games to the HD/store music/photos etc, then yes it matters. With game saves and updates it should never come close to the 4GB

I guess I'm not sure how this all works...what, if anything, would I ever download and store on my Xbox? We use her Apple for music, photos, etc. and I think we will get the Apple TV (no idea what that does). She really just wants the Xbox to be able to play Dance Central with friends. $300 waste of money if you ask me but maybe I can sneak a copy of NCAA '11 into the house.

Installing games to the hard drive means the game will load from the hard drive instead of the disc. This means if your disc ever gets scratched up, you can still play it with it in the drive (it checks for the game disc at the beginning

How much is the bundle you are looking at?

I never download music or movies. You can download demos which are about a gig each but this is a pretty infrequent activity for me
