XBox 360, PS3 or Wii? ( ESPN on 360 for TWC)

Installing games to the hard drive means the game will load from the hard drive instead of the disc. This means if your disc ever gets scratched up, you can still play it with it in the drive (it checks for the game disc at the beginning

How much is the bundle you are looking at?

I never download music or movies. You can download demos which are about a gig each but this is a pretty infrequent activity for me

Found a bundle on eBay for $285...free shipping...includes one controller, 4GB hard drive, Kinect with some Kinect Adventure game and a standard definition cable (would immediately replace that).

Do the games play faster from the hard drive or is it just as easy to use the disc?

Hmm, that's about the going rate.

Amazon has it for $299 with a $20 amazon credit (gift card):
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003O6EE4U...tiveASIN=B003O6EE4U&adid=14S8AB0VFE6WWWJ65V50

So you'd save $5 in the long run, and BP would get a solid referral. Of course, it would have been better yesterday before the referral % reset.

A few games load mildly faster (particularly loading a map in a FPS game like Battlefield), but the difference is negligible. The reason to do it is to reduce wear and tear on the disc or make sure you can still play if it gets scratched.

So considering we'd be playing about 2 games I don't think I need a big hard drive...

Definitely going to buy it through Amazon...didn't even think of that...thanks jwins.

You can also use flash drives now in addition to the HDD. My NCAA game was scratched, I have the slim arcade version, so 4 GB. I borrowed the NCAA game, and there was no room on the hard drive to load it.

I had a 8GB flash drive lying around, plugged it in, it asked to format it. Was able to back the game up on the flash drive, and now it plays fine w/ the scratched disc. No lag or anything.

That is great news...

Does anyone use the PS3 trigger extenders? I'm coming from a xbox 360 and with the fingers I use for that part of the controller seem to hurt a lot more. I definitely like how the controller is smaller, it's probably going to take some getting used to.

Got those in from amazon last night. They are a life saver of FPS. With the stock triggers I felt like my fingers were slipping off the buttons to often.

Very bad news if you have a PS3. Their network was hacked (thus the reason it's been down for about a week) and people's names, addresses, emails, possibly credit cards have been stolen. If you do have a credit card on file, monitor it very closely.

Playstion/Sony has released this info (I just don't have a link)

I wouldn't doubt the hacking community that was working on the PS3 jailbreak/unlock played a role in this.

Perhaps, but I can't help but think of how long ago that was, and how recently BMac's presence was added.
