Wrestling Chat (WWF, WWE, WCW, etc.)

Well, while we're throwing names around, I always liked the legit badasses...the guys that even the other wrestlers were afraid of. That would include my favorite, Stan the Lariat Hansen, as well as Bruiser Brody, Wahoo McDaniel, The Raging Bull Manny Fernandez, Bad News Brown, Dan Hodge, and Steve Dr. Death Williams. Terry Funk was a lunatic back in the day too.

Oh, and I always liked Larry Zybyszko (not even going to try with the spelling)..."The Living Legend".

How about Dr Sam Sheppard?

Dr. Sam Sheppard was the same man portrayed in the movie "The Fugitive" -- who was accused of murdering his wife..

It's amazing how your perception of people and celebrities can change with time.

Growing up I remember watching Saturday Night Main Event with Hogan, Piper, Macho Man, etc with my dad. I marked out for Hogan like the other kids. I hated guys like the Million Dollar Man, Shawn Michaels, Jake the Snake...ok, not Jake the Snake, he was just cool. That all changed when I grew up. I realized how absolutely awful Hogan was. If you've seen one Hogan match, you've seen just about them all. They're almost as predictable as the Undertaker at Wrestlemania. People only cheer for Hogan out of nostalgia anymore.

I don't really watch wrestling anymore, but I used to fairly often up until a few years ago. I know my perceptions started to change about 10 years ago. I started watching wrestling regularly again when Shawn Michaels came back. Hated the guy before, but after watching his matches at an older age I noticed they were a lot more entertaining than the Rock, Hogan, <insert current babyface star here>. They actually showed a lot of good technical wrestling, athletisim, and innovation. Overall, just more entertaining to watch than the usual crap they show. I went back and watched some old matches from some other guys I couldn't stand either like Ric Flair, Million Dollar Man, Jericho, basically a lot of the good heels. You realize that they're the ones that make the matches, without a decent heel that can take the bumps and play the role, it just isn't fun to watch.

too bad he was awful at actually wrestling and broke I believe Bob Holly's neck

Who? HOlly had a bad shoulder injury from Kurt Angle and a couple of arm staph infections, but I don't think he ever broke his neck in the ring.

Ah, OK, I just remember him having so many staph infections I thought he played for the Browns

PS if people want to see a horrible botch (I can't link youtube here) watch the Goldberg incident with Brett Hart. Everyone says it was the superkick that did it, but watch the footage carefully...he actually blocked that, it was the botched spear right afterwards because Hart was groggy and didn't realize it was coming that almost killed him.

yes, most people believe that ended Brett career (if we're thinking of the same thing)

THe Superkick definitely gave him a concussion, but the spear that drove him into the mat flush made it grade 3 and likely led to the stroke. Either way, yeah, that's the one.
