He was the fucking best. Piper and King Kong Bundy were my favorites growing up. I always preferred the bad guys.

Fuck yeah. I hated Bob Backlund and Hulk Hogan with a passion. Give me Flair and Piper any day.

Interesting what some consider old school verses others. Guess it depends on what era you watched as a kid.

When I saw the thread title, I assumed it would be what I consider "old school" which is 1980's Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, Randy Savage, Million Dollar Man wrestling.

However, I did wonder if by "old school", there might be references to Bruno Sammartino, Killer Kowalski, Billy Graham, and Bob Backlund.

Never world have guessed some would consider "old school" what I consider 2nd wave WWF wrestling with HHH, Steve Austin, Brett Hart, and Undertaker/Mankind.

I know what you mean, I think with a new era and such, and with WWF being at it's highest during Attitude Era, a lot of people look at as the old days (especially people like me who grew up during that time)

Def the 80s guys are truly "old school"

I'm just posting my favorite moments

You mean Scott Hall? I ran into him in a club in Pittsburgh about a decade ago. He was so plastered he could barely walk and he was carrying 6 beers at last call.

they are trying to rekindle something by bringing The Rock back for one more match at Wrestlemania, but he got absolutely schooled on the mic by Cena last night. Dude had notes written on his arm for his promo. Shell of his former self, should have stayed away.

If you want to see sad stories regarding wrestlers, watch Jake "the snake" Roberts story in Beyond the Mat.

Both the Scott Hall and Jake Roberts stories are sad. In Jake's case, his father (wrestler Grizzly Smith) did him no favors from birth.

Thing is, I don't get why he's back at all. Given that everyone now knows that wrestling is scripted (unlike many years ago when kayfabe was demanded at all times or you were fired), the outcome of this match is obvious to anyone over the age of 5. There is zero% chance that the Rock goes over Cena, anymore than there was a chance that Hogan would go over Rock several years ago. I get that they are getting cheap buys by bringing him back, but McMahon as usual is killing his business long term for a cheap pop at one show for one guy that will quickly disappear and make movies again.

I don't watch the shit that's on now much anymore (unless Taker is on), but last year when they announced there would be a surprise guest host for last year's WM, I tuned in to see who it was, and when the Rock's music hit it was the first time I marked out since 1999, I was pumped

that was the loudest pop a crowd has given since the Attitude Era

I was never a big wrestling fan, but Rowdy Roddy Piper is awesome in the acting roles he has done.

Anyone remember The Great Wojo of the 1980's WWA? Was probably my favorite wrestler as a kid.

Before his career as a professional wrestler, he won the Ohio state heavy weight championship twice in high school and the NCAA national championship once for Toledo. A neighbor of my parents wrestled heavy weight at Kent State at the same time Wojciechowski was at Toledo. This neighbor went undefeated in MAC competition for his career except for his matches against Wojo. He said he never even got close to scoring a point against the guy.

Nothing beats the 80's era.

Saturday morning WWF Superstars where scrubs got beat up

Saturday evening WCW/NWA. I personally loved the Free birds, Midnight express, and other great tag teams. Also loved the Sting ? Great Muta feuds

The occasional Saturday Night's main event felt like a huge sporting event to pre-teen me. It was the only time you got to see Hulk fight anyone of significance.

I think the last wresting angle I really watched was the NWO invasion stuff when it was in the early stages.
