TG6 ate up a lot of ground fast on that little shovel pass and he was coasting a bit, he has great big play potential I can see him putting up numbers similar to Ted Ginn Jr Freshman season this year, he is just to much of a threat not to try to get him the ball as much as possible. Another player who was very active even tho he was wearing a cast and didn't get the ball that I recall was KJ Hill, and he looked flawless and explosive in the pivot about like Dontre did his sophomore season.

Seems like if he's well covered then he won't get the ball much. It's when he can create some space when he might be the most dangerous guy on the field. He'll learn to fight the DBs more and make use of every attempt coming his way. Position switch...

Thanks to the Buckeyes' wealth of passers in 2015, the former five-star quarterback prospect redshirted last year, then made the full-time switch to wideout. And with the departure of last season's leading wide receiver trio -- Michael Thomas, Jalin Marshall and Braxton Miller (1,599 receiving yards combined) -- Gibson will have ample opportunity to earn playing time this fall. The Florida native is an elite athlete, and Barrett will need a weapon to help him shoulder the load.

Is Torrance Gibson making amazing plays in practice?

“…He runs very fast.”

That was the unconvincing response from middle linebacker Raekwon McMillan when asked about that question in regards to the young Ohio State wide receiver.

One year ago Gibson made a switch. The highly-recruited quarterback out of Plantation, FL was changing positions to wide receiver just days into his first Fall Camp.

“I approached Coach Meyer and I told him I wanted to get on the field,” he explained at the time. “I didn’t want to sit the bench. I didn’t want to be a selfish guy and just sit on the bench for a whole year and just waste a year. I just wanted to come in right away and play.”

Gibson made the change, but play for the Buckeyes he did not.

After an up-and-down first season in Columbus, which featured some positive reviews from coaches and teammates but also rumors of him leaving the program, Gibson is back for his second year and big things are expected of him.

Or so it was thought.

“You’ve got a good battle going on,” OSU head coach Urban Meyer recently said of the X receiver position. “You have Noah Brown, Corey Smith, Austin Mack, potentially Parris (Campbell). Parris is having a great offseason. Those are the guys in the battle for that spot.”

It's going to be a process for Gibson to make it on the field consistently. Many fans assumed based on his HS film, 40 times and spring game performance that he'd be pushing for time immediately. A lot goes into playing WR, besides just running fast, catching and jumping. The good thing is that he's young enough to get a grasp of the position, and coach Smith will provide him with all of the tools, it comes down to his desire to grasp a new position in the next few years to make the league

That's it in a nutshell. Natural abilities got you to tOSU. Everything is hereto develop those abilities if you have the grit to make it happen. But it's a long road.

Since his move to wide receiver, I have seen very little talk of him in the wildcat. I guarantee you that will be in play this season. I believe we saw both Jalin and Braxton in that role last year. And I'd have to think TG is every bit the threat throwing the ball as either of those guys were last year, especially with Brax's shoulder.

And this is a great way to help keep miles off of JTs body. JT will still run it......probably a lot. But TG can help lighten that load somewhat.

TG seems to know the best fit for him long term AND the team while he is in school is at WR. But everyone wants to win now and make plays now so I fully expect to see a healthy dose of him at wildcat, H, etc during his career. All the while, honing his craft as a true WR.

Let him learn how to be a WR before we use him as a Wildcat or in trick plays. He's barely grasping WR, let's get him to learn one position and master that. This kids ceiling is like a Randy Moss, Antonio Bryant, AJ Green, etc and none of them had to play in the wildcat

Ouch for Gibson.

Still transitioning to a new position.
Buried on the depth chart at a position where OSU will be bringing in two of the best in the country.
Now this.

And has used his RS thus limiting his options.

Very long road back for Torrance.

Yes very long road... After position change and from what it sounds like some attitude issues his first year this is not good for him.

May never play a meaningful snap here to be honest. Bright side is we are stacked at WR and this may mean Victor now plays to give us some height in some situations.
