WR Torrance Gibson (Green Bay Blizzard)

To bring this back on topic, Gibson I'm sure is even more raw as a passer now as he switched positions for a year

Considering the situation, I'm not sure that's good or bad. It's not like he missed a year of outstanding tutelage under Herman.

You disappointed he didn't see the field @MililaniBuckeye ?

I'm not Milli, but I'll say I have some mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, team was full up on hybrids/converts like Braxton, Jalin, Samuel... on the other hand, damn did the WR corps take a hit with injuries this year.
Despite losing an amazing talent in Thomas, I have hopes that we can have a more complete and natural Corps in 2016. Noah and potentially Corey rebounding, and some of those young WRs with another year under their belt ready to compete. Samuel could move back to RB? Wilson in his final year at pivot.
If Gibson stays at WR, there's definitely some opportunity there for him in 2016. I'm cool with whatever he and the staff decide on.

I wasn't calling you out per se, I was merely asking because you were strongly in the camp of him playing earlier this year.
I was indeed in that camp. I'd guess UFM had a good reason not to play him, but in my mind I couldn't see any wrong in giving him a shot and see if he's the real deal at WR, especially with WR depth issues we had.

Definitely not as strong at WR as the prior year. Of course part of that weakness was their blocking, not sure if Gibson would have helped there or not.

AFTER ENDURING REDSHIRT SEASON, TORRANCE GIBSON ANXIOUS TO CONTRIBUTE FOR OHIO STATE IN 2016

Standing in the locker room of University of Phoenix Stadium with a pair of Beats headphones resting atop a Fiesta Bowl Champions cap, Ohio State's Torrance Gibson rehashed one of the more difficult periods of his life.

"This season, it was a little bit difficult with the ankle injury," he said. "Then having to bounce back."

Gibson was a huge part of Urban Meyer's 2015 recruiting class, an extremely highly touted athlete out of South Florida that spurned the southern schools to suit up for the man who won the inaugural College Football Playoff National Championship. He played quarterback at Heritage High School, amassing ridiculous numbers that included a staggering 72 career touchdowns.

Many thought he'd contribute immediately at Ohio State, especially after he spoke with Meyer and elected to try his hand at wide receiver early in fall camp. With J.T. Barrett and Cardale Jones manning the quarterback duties — and other signal callers on roster — the opportunity for Gibson to play the position was essentially zero.

But an ankle injury hindered his development at the position, and frustrated Gibson. That, coupled with some immaturity resulting in him not taking care of his business in the classroom kept the star freshman from even dressing for some home games and ultimately redshirting.

"It was hard to bounce back, because the ankle was really in a lot of pain," Gibson said. "But I overcame it and I'll be healthy. I'll be good."

Gibson told cleveland.com's Doug Lesmerises following Ohio State's 44-28 victory against Notre Dame New Year's Day that he'll "for sure" be in Columbus next season, because he has faith in his head coach with regards to his future.

"Why would I leave Columbus? It's an easy question to answer," Gibson said. "Urban Meyer, I trust him with my future. I'm going to give him 110 percent on the field and I hope he believes in me."

"I made some strides. Michael Thomas, Jalin Marshall, those guys have been teaching me a lot about being a receiver," Gibson said. "Receiver just came naturally to me. I just played it a few times in seven-on-sevens, so I was just used to it."

Gibson said in his heart he is still a quarterback, but could see himself at either position in 2016.

"Maybe a wildcat quarterback, something like that. You never know," Gibson said. "Keep your eyes open."

With his mind on the future and confidence in his abilities, Gibson expects to be part of an offense that expects to experience losses at the skill positions. Regardless what spot.

"I gotta work on a few things, but I'll be ready next year. Guarantee I'll be ready," Gibson said. "During the summer, I'll be working my ass off — excuse my language — to get on that field next year."

Loved the article, TG is one of the reasons that I'm quite optimistic about 2016. A lot of unknowns but talented unknowns. No reason why TG couldn't get serious PT if not be a starter. I think his talents and athleticism intrigue many of us, as all we've seen of him is from camp highlights. We know he has über athleticism, great speed and insane leaping ability. He should be at the Woody with Barrett as much as he can to get timing down. That was somehing sorely missing this year with the QBgeddon happening

I think sitting him was the right call. Not sure if this article is linked above, but the below quote tells me it was in his and OSU's best interest that he sat this year and got "humbled". If he didn't deserve to play from an academics and attitude stand point, he shouldn't have played and I'm glad he didn't.

"A player that eager to contribute was denied the chance to even dress or warm up for a few games in the middle of the season. Meyer took that away.

"Yeah, I didn't deserve to dress," Gibson said. "I had academic issues. I took it all for a joke. Coming out of high school, I thought I was a hot shot, I thought I was this, I thought I was that.

"He humbled me. He told me that it's not about you, it's about the team, you've got to want to play on this team. And he's right. I want to play on this team and I want to be a part of this team. And I guess he humbled me this season."
