WR Torrance Gibson (Green Bay Blizzard)

If I sat down with Torrance for a few minutes I would explain two things:

1. He actually doesn't want snow. I grew up in CA and went to school back East and my first winter hit me like a body blow and then a straight right and then an uppercut. You don't want those hands, Torrance.

2. Look at Jordan Reed. Urban Meyer recruited him to Florida as a QB. And he is going to make a lot of money as a pass catcher in the NFL.
Many think that Timothy Tebow would've also made a lot of money and probably still be in the NFL if he made the position switch as well...

To what position? Tight End? It's not like he had baller skills and just lacked ability to play pro-style like Brax or Pryor or (presumably) Gibson or even guys like Denard Robinson. When you have an elite athlete, you think he'll get a chance to play somewhere in the NFL. Tebow isn't really in that category. He's big and can run well for his size, but he's not a freak athlete and not a prototypical TE either.

Actually wish he'd seen some game time prior to the bowl game so he could play in this one. I'm probably leaning very hard these days towards kids not redshirting unless they truly are not ready at all. To counter that though, when you recruit like Ohio State, Alabama, LSU, Florida State, USC, Oregon etc. a ton of those kids are well beyond the rest coming in so many of them just need game time to start getting it right. Not all, by any means, but a bunch of em. Like Cooper was fond of saying, "if they're going to bite, they'll bite as a pup."

What's a prototypical TE supposed to be? Tebow ran a 4.72 40(which is decent speed for a TE) and had 20+ reps on the bench, he doesn't need to be a freak, but be able to move the chains. And he could've done that, and I'm sure a number of teams would've signed him.
To bring this back on topic, Gibson I'm sure is even more raw as a passer now as he switched positions for a year. He looked very good in camp and it'll be interesting to see if he stays with the WRs or goes back to to QB. As he needs work at both positions(more at one than the other), before he starts to move up the ranks.

There are plenty of players with Tebow's physical attributes who actually grew up playing TE. Not understanding the confidence in his ability to play a brand new position in the NFL with average physical ability. He's not a freak like Pryor that you take a chance on.

Yes, because Pryor is having a stellar NFL career... He can't even get PT on a terrible team! Tebow at least started for most of a season and won an NFL playoff game. He can't be of "average physical ability" if he's already seen some success in the NFL. Multiple NFL analysts and scouts said he could make the transition. I'm not saying hed be an all pro, but he could make a team and still be in the NFL and have a better time than his QB days.

Lots of freshman take a physical beating trying to compete at the high level necessary in the college game.
Then you get set back with nagging injuries and your first year is one of frustration.
It's a shock to a lot of kids.
As far as going back to QB, I think the emergence of Joe Burrow has settled that.
But, Hey! You now get a guy like Burrow throwing accurate darts your way and you get a bigger chance to show what you can become.

If by NFL analysts you mean ESPN talking heads that couldn't bare the thought of him not making it. As I recall there were a couple of NFL teams and scouts that wanted to get him to work out, but most of it was talking heads looking for clicks. He fit the size requirements and could run like a TE with the ball, but blocking technique, catching and route running is another matter. Very difficult to learn in the highest level of the sport. Gibson's best shot at making it is to make the switch sooner.

Huh? I clearly wasn't comparing Pryor's QB ability to Tebow's. I was saying Pryor's athletic ability is why he's still on an NFL roster as a WR. If he was 6'3 235 lbs running a 4.72 40, I'd put his odds at less than 1% of still being in the NFL. But yes, compared to NFL TE's(who are some of the best overall athletes in the league), Tebow is very average. I never saw Tebow block or catch a pass, so maybe he does have some hidden potential. I just wouldn't base it on his athleticism.

Oh yeah, go Torrance!

Sorry for getting off track with the Tebow talk. I'll get back on with Torrance. And I agree with @TampaBuckeyes that Gibson will have a great WR career if he were to fully commit and remain at the position. That's what may hurt Braxton in his draft stock as he's only had one season to learn the position.

FWIW
Urban recently stated that Burrow was getting "quality time" at QB.
Well then, paint the end zones.

I'm of the belief Torrence has the potential to be successful at either qb or wr, it's a matter of when and the need/competition at each. The qb logjam has changed but wr seems to be the far clearer path. This coupled with beck as the qb coach would push Torrence to wr I would think. Based on his camp performance and general talk I expect Torrence to be an impact player at wr next year starting in ok. Stay healthy young man.
