WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

Teddy is apparently worried about his latest drop in projection in the draft. He has dropped to in some Mocks the end of the first to teams like SD and Indy. If he runs like a 4.3 or 4.2 at this workout, he could quickly shoot back up to the middle of the First. We're all pullin' for you Teddy!!

From ESPN.COM (Free):

Two potential first-round picks in the upcoming draft -- Ohio State WR/RS Ted Ginn Jr. and Miami OLB John Beason -- have announced workout dates, after sitting out their respective pro days due to injury. Beason will complete his workout at a high school facility in Hollywood, Fla. on April 5. Ginn Jr. hopes to be fully recovered one week later for his newly scheduled workout at Ohio State on April 12.

Wouldn't he rather go to an indy (peyton manning, super bowl champs) than a cleveland?

Certainly, going in the top ten is huge, but going to SD with LT and Rivers or Indy or NE and winning would be pretty decent consolation. Also, he would be a marketable as hell guy on a team that wins and gets a lot of press and national tv coverage so, for him, the monetary difference in top ten and bottom ten of the first round might not be such a big deal.

I imagine the money of being a top 10 pick is pretty appealing to him as well.

Even just going anywhere in the first round to any team, you will get a legitimate amount of money. But obviously the higher you go the more money you make, but I mean anywhere in the first round you go I'm sure you will make some good money.

It depends on the position, but here's a ballpark of the difference in money: (about 2.5-3 times as much)

Pro Football Weekly
Late top-ten = $20-25 million ($12-15 guaranteed) ... for 5 years
Late 1st round = $7-11 million ($5 guaranteed) ... for 5 years

Yeah, that would make a big difference to me if I was Teddy. Kids coming into the NFL want to see the big payday. And I don't see this as a fault. That is what they have been working so hard for all these years playing ball and training. They want to take care of their families and themselves. They have time enough in their career that they can either sign as a FA or get traded to a contender, and outside of the First 5 picks you could be selected by a team that is not far from contending. Look at this years draft, 5-10 has the Skins, Vikings, Falcons and Dolphins. These are not terrible teams by any means. I personally see him being drafted between 15-20, by someone like GB, Jax or Tenn.

I highly doubt that the Packers would take a WR in the first or second round. Granted Teddy Ginn is Teddy Ginn, but the Packers just have way too many gaps they need to try to fill in with the draft. WR is acutally one of the strongest points for the Packers' entire team.

Dolphins looking at many prospects

Late next week, the Dolphins also will play host to Ted Ginn Jr., his father said Monday. The visit is expected to take place April 19 or 20, Ginn Sr. said.
Ginn. Jr., who is far more likely to be available with the Dolphins' ninth overall pick than Quinn or Russell, is a speedy threat with potential to replace Wes Welker as the team's kick returner.

''I'm all for fast guys, no matter what position they play,'' Mueller said during February's scouting combine. ``I think teams have to defend you differently if you have the element of speed. So we're going to always look to upgrade team speed.'
