WR Ted Ginn, Jr. (Official Thread)

The Rotoworld Wire Feed

Ted Ginn ran three forties in the 4.38-4.42 range at his Pro Day Wednesday, according to Scout.com.
Ginn reportedly ran six routes during pass-catching drills and fell on five of them before the workout was called off. We've confirmed that it's been raining in Columbus, but no other explanation for the slips has been given. Ginn had been struggling with a sprained foot. Apr. 11 - 2:33 pm et
Does anyone reckon it is likely he was wearing any special cast on the injured foot / ankle?

Still hurting, Ginn goes around 4.4 in 40s

COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Even less than 100 percent healthy, Ted Ginn Jr. proved pretty fast today in a private workout for NFL coaches and scouts.
The former Ohio State receiver ran three 40-yard dashes at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, and the consensus was he averaged around 4.4 seconds.
His father, Ted Ginn Sr., reported times of 4.38, 4.40 and 4.41. He said his son was 75 percent to 80 percent healthy.

uh, I wasn't agreeing with you.

i never said you agreed with me, i was agreeing with what you wrote.

he is known as a speedster, and he didnt prove it today. He was slow (for him) and he fell making cuts - mostlikely because his ankle isnt completely healed. He would have been better off not even working out.

Now that he has and scouts/teams know that he is still not healthy he will drop.

Dont get me wrong, i like the guy alot and i would love to have him on my team, but he really hurt himself out there today. He needed to run in the mid to low 4.3s and run perfect patterns to move back up to being the #2 WR taken in the draft.

Now he has slipped, imo, to the 4th or possibly 5th wr taken in the draft. whic

I still don't get it. Injuries heal. It is not a secret how fast he is. I understand that these workouts are important, but his audition for the NFL is not the workout. It was the years of actual football...

I don't know why they mention the rain.....I seriously doubt the workout was outdoors.
I agree, was going to comment on that myself - and certainly the Dispatch write-up shows WHAC, not outdoors.

From that Dispatch article -- representatives from 15 teams were present ..
-- Ginn may go anywhere from 6th to 20th -- which is a span of 15 teams.

Symmetry.

Also nice to hear the St. Louis rep acknowledge what we all know, 4.4. at 75-80% healthy is faster than most other guys.

Saw31 - read the Dispatch article and the St. Louis Rams comments.

Somneone will have their head on straight on Draft Day - in the 1st round - and take Teddy Ginn Jr.

Then you weren't agreeing with what I wrote....because the whole reason I wrote it was to show that he won't drop like the idiots on nfldraftcountdown.com and footballsfuture.com are acting.

There's no way in hell he's a 2nd round pick because of this.

Expectations might be a little too high when sub-4.4 40s are being called slow. With Ginn slipping on his routes I have to wonder whether he's even back to 100%, and he's still ripping off 40s up there with the top-6 WRs at the combine (of which 4 are no-names).

I don't know, but I sit here and think about Willis McGahee and have to ask why G4H thinks that these NFL guys are so stupid or one-minded about a simple workout...
Round 1 - pick 23. And, the injury to McGahee was shatteringly worse than that suffered by Ginn Jr. There was nothing left of that knee when he taken off the field. (Hell, he was not even able to suit up and play for a full year - and the Bills knew that going in).

wasnt willis projected top 3 before the injury? and yes the injury to willis was much worse but he still fell what 23 spots?

And yes these NFL guys are stupid and one minded about a simple work out look at the mock drafts right after the season and now, people have went way up and way down just because of them. Hell look at some of the past drafts.

Jimmy Williams was projected top 15 last year slid all the way to 37 on bad workouts

heath miller was projected 13-20 then had that mild sport hernia and slid to pick 30

in 04 Steven Jackson was projected 10-15 and slid to 24 baised on his workout numbers.

there is always atleast 1 player that slids the wrong way in the 1st round because of his works outs, and i believe this year it Teddy.

Ok, I see. That's what I wanted you to say all along. That you know more than the NFL guys. Thank you...

no you really dont get what i am saying do you?

i think ginn is going to be a great NFL player. The scouts/NFL guys put alot of emphasis on the combine numbers for some reason instead of watching tape.

i think because he ran a sub-par 40 for him (still a very good time) and he fell 5 out of 6 passing routes the scouts are going to shy away from him and they will take Bowe and Meachem instead.

He will heal up and prove to everyone that passed on him. Just like those other guys i mentioned they fell because of their combine numbers not their play on the field.

Just like LaRon Landry has shot up on everyones list because of his great numbers, yet they forget that he gets burnt on the deep ball alot. And free safteys (which is what he is) need to be more of a Deep ball player then a run stopper, which he is great at.

I hope you are starting to realize why i think he will fall, it has nothing to do with his abilities on the field it has to do with the jackos in the front offices of most of these NFL teams that put to much weight on combine numbers.
