"Cornerback" Ted Ginn Jr.

There have been some furious arguments on this board about the wisdom of using Teddy Ginn at corner this year, a la Chris Gamble. Fortunately, Coach Tressel drove yet another nail in that coffin at his press conference yesterday, proving once again that JT knows a hell of a lot more about football than some of the loudest voices on this board. Allah be praised!

In answer to a question about Ginn yesterday, one of the greatest coaches in the history of college football said:

He is strictly offense for the moment. I think I mentioned this back in February: There was an evolution to how Chris (Gamble) did that. Chris started playing a little bit down by the goal line when we had some injuries. Then we moved it out to the red zone and that type of thing. And then it expanded into being a full-time corner. I do not anticipate that with Ted Ginn. That evolution. There could be an evolution based upon injuries and so forth, but I do not anticipate that.
For all those who think they could make Ginn 'even better' by having him run 30 or 40 wind sprints against opposing receivers on Saturdays, in between his offensive series, I have some advice: Go volunteer to coach a Pop Warner team and leave the Buckeyes to someone who knows what they're talking about.

Was anyone on this board calling for him to play both ways full time?
I know I wasnt, and I dont think too many were.
Most of us were calling for goal line/red zone applications only.

Please list your source when you give a quote like this. I am curious as to whether this came from a free source or not. It could have, but the only places I saw it earlier yesterday were on pay sites, which is why I summarized what JT said in another thread about ginn regarding this exact topic.

Ted Ginn in the Spring

Will he be eligible for spring practice with the team?? I've heard that he was going to run track, which might make him unable to play football in the spring also. How much of a buzz would this take off of the Spring Game??

I think he's skipping track this year...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't JT specifically say TGII would see some reps at CB this spring?

Know what, I'll see if I can find it... :)

Dude, don't even start. Tressel just said in a conference a few days ago that Ginn will NOT play corner this year, barring major injuries at corner.
