THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Ohio State receiver Ted Ginn Jr. was seen wearing a protective boot on his right foot the past couple of days, but that should not alarm Buckeyes fans.
Whatever is wrong ? possibly a broken little toe ? happened midweek last week, insiders said. That was before the junior caught five passes for 72 yards and a touchdown and threw a 38-yard TD pass to tight end Rory Nicol in the 44-3 win over Indiana. He also returned four punts for 42 yards, with a long of 19.
OSU officials had no comment on the matter.
Ginn is not expected to miss the game against Minnesota on Saturday. He will enter with a streak of 27 games with at least one catch.
Meanwhile, it?s unclear whether backup receiver Ray Small will be available. He was held out of the Indiana game for disciplinary reasons.
Smiths take honors

Quarterback Troy Smith and cornerback Antonio Smith were named Big Ten players of the week.
Antonio Smith, a fifth-year senior and former walk-on from Beechcroft High School, gained the defensive honor after a career-high 12 tackles, including a sack, as the OSU defense put the clamps on Indiana quarterback Kellen Lewis. Smith shared the award with Penn State linebacker Paul Posluszny.
"I?m just glad we had a great game with the defense, offense and special teams ? I?m just glad we had a complete game as a team," Smith said.
Troy Smith matched his career-high with four touchdown passes. He shared the offensive award with Michigan State quarterback Drew Stanton, who was part of the greatest comeback in major-college history, a rally from 35 points down to a 41-38 win over Northwestern.
Smith is the league?s most efficient passer and is rated No. 4 nationally in that category after hitting 15 of 23 passes ? he missed on his first four ? for 220 yards Saturday.
All of his touchdown passes Saturday came in the first half. The last time that was done by an OSU quarterback was Bob Hoying against Purdue in 1994.
A fifth-year player who already has earned his degree, Smith has 21 TD passes with just two interceptions.
Illinois kickoff set

The Buckeyes? game at Illinois on Nov. 4 will kick off just past 3:30 p.m., the Big Ten office announced. It will be televised on ESPN2.
The kickoff time for the game at Northwestern on Nov. 11 has not been set.

rumors on the-ozone forum that TG2 broke his toe.. and now what appears to be surfacing is that he had a broken toe during the game and seemed ok..

also interesting to note that the broken toe is from the shotty turf

^ALL RUMORS AS FAR AS I KNOW.. HAVE SEEN NOTHING OFFICAL BUT JUST A HEADS UP

EDIT: A mod on bucknuts has confirmed this i guess? Supposedly broke his baby toe, will not miss any time..?
According to JT's press conference, Ginn was "nicked" during practice last Wednesday. I doubt the team is practicing in the Shoe, so unless the turf at the practice facility is shoddy also, the turf wasn't the cause. Speculation was broken pinkie toe, but he is obviously fine judging by his performance against Indiana. JT assured everyone that Teddy will play against the Gophers.

[sarcasm] OK, I'm breathing again. [/sarcasm]

Also from JTs presser today:

REPORTER: Do you not feel the need to rest Teddy or --
COACH TRESSEL: To rest him?

REPORTER: He's playing?
COACH TRESSEL: Oh, yeah. I'm not the doctor. I'm the coach. He's playing. I can be trumped by the doctor, but, no, all indications are he'll be fine.

TSUN is planning a new defensive strategy against Ted. They are planning to smuggle doors onto the field. It's a safe assumption the pre-game search will prevent that from happening.

In other personnel news, wide receiver Ted Ginn said today said that the broken toe he sustained last week did not occur on the practice field, but rather when he ran into a door in the Woody Hayes Athletic Center on his way into a meeting.

"It hurts, but it doesn't affect my play too much," said Ginn. "I just ice it every day and do what I have to do," he said.

That's disappointing. How can I deify Teddy when he breaks his toe running into doors and furniture at the ass-crack of dawn just like I do? What a bum! :)

COLUMBUS - Ted Ginn?s broken pinky toe on his right foot occurred not during practice, but on his way to a meeting, the Ohio State receiver said today.

In his weekly conference call with reporters, Ginn said he hurt the toe last Wednesday when he stubbed it on a door. He played last Saturday against Indiana and will be back on the field against Minnesota in three days.

Ginn said the injury bothers him a bit as he walks around in a soft boot, and he noticed it some on Saturday, but he still caught five passes for 72 yards.

?I played through it,? Ginn said. ?I just try to be a strong individual, so if I?m going to play, then I?m not going to use excuses to say my foot was hurting if I came out to play. So I do what I do.?

Ginn said he?s treating the injury with ice and electric stimulation. He said he has not been held out of any practices and doesn?t expect to be.
