WR/RB Lamaar "Flash" Thomas (transfer to New Mexico)

A player can participate in up to 3 games and still redshirt, I believe.

Paging BB73.

It requires an injury, as Mili said. The % amount was changed a couple years back so that it's 30% of the season, rounded up. And the injury must occur in the first half of the season.

So a player injured in game 4 of a 12 or 13 game season could still get another year. Or a player injured in game 6 that only had played in 4 games up to that point.

Get him more comfortable in the offense and you can bet he'll bust one of those before long, a nice long one against Bucky would look almost unfair seeing as how their defense had a hard time catching Threet on that QB scamper yesterday.

Yeah Thomas may have only caught 2 passes but he was in there an awful lot. Taurian got in there more than usual and Ray was in there too, dropping that big pass.
We are yet to see Thomas get the ball in space to see what he can do with it.

It is apparent that jobs will be won and lost on a weekly basis. The staff has opened things up to the point that players such as Lamaar will see time, and touches in a perfect world, enough to show whether or not more PT is deserved. As a player I would think that is all you can hope for.

Look for Thomas to get some more PT this week. I spoke with him at a business near campus and he was pumped up about this weekend saying they are using him in practice alot this week. I would like to see his wheels....

Yup, JP confirms over on The Ozone that Thomas will be back there w/ Mo Wells and Saine on kickoffs. Report also indicates that Ray Small MAY be out this week due to tweaked knee...in which case more playing time for Posey and Thomas.

IMO Flash deserves his shot on the kickoff return. MoW has shown this past week he's capable of going 40+ yards (ala Mo Hall). Now I know I have a record for not being too high on Saine, but IMO he's had so many opportunities and hasn't gone very far on any of them. Supplement Flash in there for a couple kickoffs in the upcoming weeks and see if he can infuse some explosive returns. It's really painful to see Saine get the ball with a full head of steam only to slow down around the 20 and brace for a hit. I mean I wouldn't wanna run into folks going full steam either, but atleast take a couple wide once in a while. It seems like Saine keeps things for the most part in the middle of the field.

Is Thomas a Ted Ginn? Probably not, but it's been noted the kid is the 2nd or so fastest to Brandon. I for one think Thomas in space will look faster than Saine because of how light Thomas is (Ted Ginn). Here's hoping that Thomas has a solid weekend!
