Those two stances don't seem at odds to me. Lagunasurf's saying that Small hasn't passed OSU's admissions yet, Nevada/Small/Rose/BSB are confident that he will.Laguna is adamant here and BN that Small isn't in yet, however Nevada/Small/Rose/BSB are extremely confident. Some one has bad info, I just hope he gets in.
I don't think his status has gone back and forth at all, only the rumors about his status have (Folanator beat me to it). All along, Small was NCAA eligible, but was borderline, or just below the cutoff to pass OSU admissions. While unfortunate, it's taking so long because he needed to retake his standardized test in order to pass OSU admissions, and it just takes some time to do that and to get your score back. This whole situation stinks to me. I cannot remember any other case where a SA's status went back and forth so many times.
I thought Small qualified for NCAA standards a long time ago but it was Ohio St.'s standards that he was having a tough time meeting.
It's kind of funny that for all the shots we take in the national media, our entrance standards are higher than those of the NCAA.
Notre Dame and scUM fans are still living in the past. Ohio St. is declining players that are getting accepted into school's with fine academic reputations yet people still see us as a poor academic school.
There is no set cut-off, it depends on many factors.I wonder what the gpa/test score cutoff is for student-athletes.
You make a valid point. Although to be fair, the admissions standards for the general student population (as opposed to scholarship athletes) are higher at UM and ND than they are at Ohio State.Oregon Buckeye said:Notre Dame and scUM fans are still living in the past. When I was applying for college getting the test scores and grades in on time were pretty squarely my responsibility, and if I didn't get the test scores I needed early...well, the application deadline wasn't going to wait around for me to retake them a couple more times. I wouldn't knock admissions on this one, they're just doing their job, which is only admitting qualified scholars to OSU.I wasn't going to post on this but, it starting to make me sick. Osu admissions have to become more organize if there in control of some young mans future if he can or can't be allowed to attend the school instead, of a day to day until school starts.

How the hell could anyone let him believe he was anything but an accepted SA? Allowing him to move to campus without being certain seems wrong to me.
