NOAH BROWN, POPE JOHN
Senior wide receiver/running back, 6-2, 210 pounds
JUST THE FACTS:
Brown scored two second-half touchdown in spectacular fashion to lift Pope John, No. 8 in The Star-Ledger Top 20, past crosstown rival Sparta, 31-27, last Saturday. Brown took a 4-yard check-down pass 87 yards to the end zone, without being touched, to give Pope John its first lead of the game in the fourth quarter as Pope John remained unbeaten at 5-0.
COACH'S COMMENT: "Noah is an exceptional player and person. He has all the attributes that big-time college programs look for. He's a playmaker, tough, has a great football IQ, a great work ethic and he's an excellent leader on and off the field. It's a pleasure to work with him every day." -- Pope John coach Brian Carlson.
ON HIS TWO TD RECEPTIONS VS. SPARTA: "I said earlier in the week that it was going to be on the seniors to carry us through this game in such a big atmosphere. To come out in the second half and have my team behind me was huge. It felt great to score those two touchdowns."
ON POPE JOHN'S NO. 8 STATE RANKING: "I feel like this is a culmination of all of our hard work. It's definitely positive after all the work we put in in the off-season. We worked real hard together with team-building activities, strength and conditioning and stuff like that. To see it all come together this year so far has definitely been great."
ON PLAYING BOTH RUNNING BACK AND RECEIVER: "I definitely like to be split out wide more. But I'm ready to take care of the ball in the backfield when we need it. My favorite position is definitely out wide."
ON PLAYING WITH SONNY ABRAMSON AND RYAN IZZO, ALSO FUTURE DIV. 1 PLAYERS: "It's great. We're always there for each other and we're all good friends. If one of us isn't having a great day, the other one's bound to make a play. That's the one thing that's great about playing with them. There's really a lot of support around me."
ON COMMITTING TO OHIO STATE: "I thought that was the best decision for me. They're always a top five program with top five academics. I feel like I could be the wide receiver that they don't necessarily have on the team right now and I feel like I can make a pretty great impact pretty soon."
IN 10 YEARS: "I think any football player's dream is to play at the highest level. Going to the NFL is definitely mine, it's something that I work towards every day."
FAVORITE SUBJECT: Psychology.
FAVORITE MOVIE: "StepBrothers."
FAVORITE FOOD: Buffalo chicken pizza.
PRE-GAME RITUAL: "I listen to 'Kobe' by Chief Keef twice before every game."
FAVORITE NFL PLAYER: Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant.
DINNER FOR FOUR: "(Former NFL receiver) Chad Johnson, Selena Gomez and my mother."

The more film I see of Noah, the more excited I get about this kid.

About the best way I can describe him is that he plays WR like Carlos Hyde plays RB. Big, strong, deceptively fast, gives maximum effort, and gets lots of YACs (which Urban will love) because he's hard to bring down, he beats the first tackler, and has a pretty mean stiff arm. Bull in a china shop. I think he could do big things here.

For every carry, yard gained and tackle broken, Noah Brown saw the same image flash.

It was not a vision of a sectional title or any other accomplishment. The running back saw the scoreboard from two short weeks ago, when Delbarton handed Pope John its first loss of the season.

“Absolutely that was on my mind” Brown said.

Yesterday afternoon in Sparta, the senior rushed 28 times for 159 yards and two touchdowns and rallied Pope John, No. 11 in The Star-Ledger Top 20, to a 14-13 victory over No. 10 Delbarton in the semifinals of the NJSIAA/Atlantic Health Non-Public, Group 3 playoffs.

“This is what all of the training is for, all of the squats, all of the everything,” said Brown, whose second-half TDs helped his team erase a 13-0 deficit. “Stats don’t matter, the bottom line is we’re going to MetLife.”

I sure hope you're not comparing this kid to Sammy Watkins... smh
:roll1:

Yet our current WRs compare to Watkins & Bryant, we just don't have the right combination on the field.

I agree Watkins & Brown don't compare right now, but be easy......glass houses & such.
