WR Michael "Cantguardmike" Thomas (B1G Champion, National Champion, Pro Bowl, All-Pro, 2019 OPOY)

Might actually need this kind of fire. I agree it should be kept in house not on Twitter. I love that fact that he wants to step up though. I was actually a buddy where the hell Devin had been the past couple of games myself. You can't completely have a black hole on the field and expect to beat anyone of caliber.

His opinion and he is right. I had my assumptions before I saw the game live at the Orange Bowl. Smith runs very poor routes (coaching). Spencer runs very poor routes (coaching) and predominantly blocks. Philly is the only receiver that can run a route. You shouldn't need to kiss the coaches ass to play and Thomas has played well during the Spring throughout. The talent is there but the coaching is questionable at QB, WR, LB and DBs.

I think there's probably quite a few players who have been grumbling about PT behind the scenes and Thomas decided he was going to make his voice heard...He has since deleted those tweets I'm pretty sure

Jalin Marshall, Corey Smith, and Michael Thomas, who all redshirted last season, will also be battling for playing time this season and could greatly help improve the caliber of weapons in the passing game

He was given the gift of redshirting. If he is right about himself, he got a whole extra year to show everyone.

I couldn't tell you who runs good routes and who doesn't, but I do recall the Joey Gallaway made some negative comments on his route running in the 2012 season. I think on the play in question he inexplicably ran himself out of bounds.

I share everyone's frustration when it "seems" like Miller often has no one open and I have various suspicions, but they don't send me the all22 tape.

I agree with what he said, but like everyone has been saying, this should've been said in house. It shows some immaturity when a player says stuff like this on twitter but I personally agree with everything he said. He wanted to talk football, and broke it down unfiltered. Our WR play has been putrid for a team that supposed to be elite. Devin smith has been one of my favorite WRs since he's arrived at Osu, but he's been terribly inconsistent. All we ever hear is about Evan Spencer's blocking ability, but never about his route running or hands. Philly has been our best WR and it's not even close. I hope the WR competition is wide open next year. Some young guys deserve some serious looks since the upperclassmen havent shown much. Watkins and Bryant's play should've had all is Osu fans drooling because we have just as much talent in our WR corps as well, but just need to find the right combination. And Braxton needs to make better decisions and progressions. And improve that accuracy. Mike broke it down, and told what we all saw but just haven't said, and like he said, we've sugar coated it. I hope he shows and proves next year to back up his talk. But for the broader spectrum, I just hope either smith and spencer improve or they're yanked for some young pups who are willing to make moves. Jalin, James, Corey, Jeff, terry, johnnie, Curtis, Noah and parris, mike was calling you all to step up as much as he was calling out the current WR starters, coaching staff and Braxton.

I expect a few WRs will earn their starting spot after spring ball. I expect the rest to rotate in and out the first half of the season next year. We didn't see very much rotation this year because depth was still an issue and we were heavily committed to the run game. This all changes next year. Apparently Mike is confident in his ability to earn significant playing time. I am glad to hear that.
