WR Grant Schwartz (official thread)

Laguna- Has there been any talk recently of Grant possibly playing some WR now with Chichester out of this class? I know we are still pretty deep at WR but with the athletic ability Grant has, I sure wouldn't mind seeing him on offense.

One thing I've learned in conversations with staff is that it is absolutely correct in many's assessment of what JT looks for in a prospect. I'm referring to the size, speed, power categories. This goes especially for the guys that are in the DB/WR categories with the exception of the "tall" WR's. I coudn't even tell you where GS will start out at upon arrival. Safety (most likely), CB (next most likely), WR? We'll just have to wait and see. Ray Small, Kurt Coleman and Grant Schwartz are all at the same level as far as speed goes. Chimdi Chekwa could very well be right there as well. All four could easily find themselves at several spots. Again, that's the way JT likes it. Where any of these players start out will also be determined by what the staff feels about what they see after spring ball. Kurt will get a jump on things as he's coming in for spring. Though an advantage for sure, not as great as one might think. Actually the advantage depends on the player. Ray Small WILL start out as a WR. Other than that. We'll just have to wait and see how things play out.

Nice post Laguna. I agree with you on coming in the spring, but I think a lot of it depends on how disciplined these kids are to actually work out real hard and learn the things they are going to need to know come falll. I am guessing that is what you mean by it depends on the kid.

BTW have they sent Grant anytype of workout, or does he just have his own.

All the new commits will get their workouts this week after they sign the NLOI. It's against NCAA regs before then. Grant works with a personal speed and agility coach twice a week along with lifting 4 times per week right now. Track starts today as well. No rest for the wicked. In the spring he hopes to begin work with former All-Pro Ram Leroy Irvin. If not he'll be forced to work with...............................me LOL. Oh, he'll be ready:wink2: .

Awesome

As we inch closer to signing that LOI it just gets more and more exciting. After that, we start counting down the days to camp. It is hard to express how amazing it feels. Maybe for me, as a former player, understanding what it means to be a Buckeye brings an even greater significance than to a parent that hasn't been there? Though I'm sure any parent feels pretty lucky. All I know is these are good times for tOSU Buckeyes. Players, coaches and fans alike. Good times!

NFBuck, you take a kid with potential, put him in a positive environment where he is encouraged to strive for greatness within a team concept and they can't help but reach for the stars. What a wonderful time to be passionate about OSU football, and Thad has the Bball squad reaching too. "Go Bucks" seems melodramatic but it still fits.
