WR Grant Schwartz (official thread)

Grant's 100 meter time on Thursday was 10.64, hand timed. So an "official" time would be 10.7. Even though the OC Register reported a 10.6 flat. For reporting purposes, hand times over 1/100th over the tenth will be rounded UP more often than not. (ie 10.52 will report as 10.6) Brandon Saine's 10.8 @ state was electronic. An electronic equivalent of 10.64 hand timed would be somewhere in the 10.85-10.88 range. Grant should be able to go 10.7 electronic come April-May. It's been abnormally cold in CA this year so the temperature has been in the high 40's low 50's for the track meets. Warmer weather will help times as well. He is working hard with his OSU strength program. Put up 315 three times last week and currently weighs just over 210.

Perfect example of the accuracy of that statement is this story. In the first meet of the season (3/9) My watch read 10.69 for Grant's 100 meter time. The timer at the finish got 10.9.
This past Thursday (3/16) one of the parents approached me and asked me if he'd heard correctly the week before that my watch read 10.69. I said, yeah but.............he said, "just so you know, I film every race, then take the video home, put it on my computer which has a program that allows me to "time" the video. Your 10.69 was exactly correct!" I just smiled and said, "really?" I mean, oh yeah I knew that!" LOL. We both got a good chuckle out of it.
Electronic times, which are used in invitationals, sectional and state meets are a closer "comparisons" but even those times of course will vary based on conditions etc.
We are just always working towards getting faster and stronger to be ready to PLAY FOOTBALL. Which is really all that matters. To us at least! LOL!
It IS fun to race though, especially when most of the opponents are considerably smaller. Oh that guy must be on steroids is a coming thing that people say. Kind of flattering really!:wink2:

Exactly. So far this spring, I have witnessed three events where a kid won a race but clocked slower than the kids he beat...kid who won is clocked at 10.8 but others are 10.7ish...don't ever trust meet times.

LOL! Great post. He works on his backpedal and footwork 3 or 4 times a week. I'd love to see even just 10 minutes DAILY. But something about academics and student activities...................silly stuff sometimes interfere. Frustrating!!! LOL! Personally, I make no predictions for this or ANY freshman. I will promise this though, this kid will be as prepared as one can be. After that, you never can tell.:wink2: :tongue2:

OC Register

South roster has Mission Viejo look
By DAN ALBANO

...the 47th Orange County North-South Prep All-Star Football Game on July 14 at Orange Coast College...

Edison's Brian Shrock (5-11, 180), The Register's Offensive Player of the Year in 2005, is one of three quarterbacks on the South roster. San Clemente's Mike Cook (6-2, 180) and Dana Hills' Grant Schwartz (6-0, 208) are quarterbacks, though the Ohio State-bound Schwartz also can play defensive back.

Do i see another Dustin Fox in the making. (ooops i just pulled the white corner comparison, uh oh, if this were BN my ass would be getting handed to me right now, verbally atleast). In many ways though he does resemble Fox, athleticsm is through the roof, same hair, hmm.
