WR Grant Schwartz (official thread)

Grant has the size and athleticism to be able to play CB,S,LB,WR,QB, and many different special teams positions, namely kick returner. I think he will be just fine wherever they play him. He is just that good.

By Mike Wachsman...Grant talks about getting ready for the Fall and working out in Columbus over the Summer. He says he will initially be repping at safety.

I hope this means that the coaches are comfortable with the depth and performance of the corners. I would think that Grant's experience at QB, seeing the whole field and reading coverages, will help his transition to safety. Looking forward to seeing how Grant progresses.

With the emergence of Malcolm Jenkins last year as a future star, and the continued improvements of Amos and Donald Washington, plus the breaking out of Antonio Smith in his last year as a Buckeye... CB is not even close to being an area of conern for me.

Don't forget about Coleman.

Every Player that Comes Here had Better Strap it Up

True freshman safety Grant Schwartz from Dana Hills Dana Point California discusses high school, coming to Ohio State for the summer, and what he liked best about fall camp.

By Steve Patterson

What was the highlight of your high school career?
'I would have to say the highlight of my high school career was getting the chance to put a great team together my senior year, for the first time in a long time at my school.'

Which colleges recruited you? What led you to decide to attend Ohio State?
'Oregon, Virginia Tech, Washington State, USC, Boise St, Colorado St, Arizona St and Arizona, were some of the ones I can think of off the top of my head. The main reason I decided to come to Ohio State was that they give you a chance to play for the National Championship every year.'

Which coaches were most involved in your recruitment?
'Coach Fickell and Coach Beckman were the two main coaches who recruited me.'

How many all-star games were you able to play in and was the experience something special?
'I was actually unable to play in any all star games do to the fact that I came early to be with the team in the summer. Something that I definitely wish I could have done though.'

How has the Fall Camp been for you and have there been any events that have surprised you?
'Fall camp has been very high paced so far, it definitely takes a little getting used to in the beginning but the more time I spend here the more I become to it. I would have to say hoot and hollar was definitely an eye opening experience that the intensity of college is something else.'

How has the level of competition compared to what you anticipated when you selected Ohio State?
'About what I expected I mean this is the best football school in the nation, and every player that comes here had better strap it up for every practice or you?ll find yourself playing catch up pretty fast.'
