WR Grant Schwartz (official thread)

Camden

Grant has elected not to play as he feels he needs to give his shoulder all the time needed for complete recovery to allow him to train for the '06 season. He'd also rather attend the Fiesta Bowl which he would be unable to do if he were playing in the Emfinger game. He was flattered to have been selected that's for sure. Had he not been injured he probably would have kept his commitment but it's not worth delaying his preparations for next year. Rivals just came out with their updated player rankings and Grant has moved up to 3 star #38. Of no consequence, but flattering all the same.:wink2:

Schwartz comments on his official visit to tOSU.

In the rivals article, they talk about how Grant's team was 4-1 with him and did not win a game the rest of the year. not knocking any other kids on his team, but appearantly Grant was the heart and soul of them. If he was such a playmaker that it appears he won games almost singlehandedly, i cant wait to see what great plays he will be making in scarlet and grey. lagunasurf, it sure is great to see him get the recognition he deserves, even after injuring himself and not playing the second half of the year!

And if I'm not mistaken that loss was to good ol Mission Viejo. Great athlete and even better person. Can't wait untill he gets here.

I know, I know...stars, schmars...but:

Grant is now rated the #38 safety by Rivals and is a 3-star prospect.

I believe that he's been a 3 star for a while now. Not to get to far off topic from Grant, but does anybody know when the new rankings for Rivals and Scout come out. I thought they had one right after the AA Bowl and then right after NLOID.

Edit- A couple posts above on 12/13 Laguna states that Grant was updated to 3-star status.

Other than Ross (for obvious reasons), Grant might be my favorite recruit in this class. I just think he's gonna surprise the hell out of some people and he looks like a born leader. Recipe for success if you ask me.

That and his old man ain't too bad on these message boards...

I gotta say I was pretty impressed with Grants arm after watching his video from sunshine prep. Any chance he gets a look at QB. Laguna?

There are many that would love to see Grant on offense whether it be QB or WR aka with the ball in his hands. But his, and the staff preference right now is D. He is a nice insurance policy on the roster in case disaster were to strike with injuries to other QB's. I think we are looking VERY nice @ that postion for years to come though.:wink2:

After just watching Grant's sunshine preps highlight video, you can put me in the camp that would like to see him involved in the offense somehow. He has great speed, his elusiveness with the ball is something that cannot be taught. Very impressive highlight tape. If nothing else, how does Grant feel about being a return man in a couple years? :) He's definitely gonna be a player, regardless of the position.

Oh, here is the vid I just watched, for those that haven't seen it, check it out:

After checking out the video in Buckeye Nate's post, Grant has one heck of an arm for being recruited to play Defense:). Also, please dont take offense to this, but Grant is a lot faster than I first thought. In the video, he is either one heck of a lot faster than everyone else or he is playing very slow competion(althought knowing the schedule he had I think it's his speed) because he is leaving a dust trail behind everyone!
