WR Duron Carter (Official Thread)

Just sayin', if Duron were my kid, he wouldn't get the benefit of the doubt. Not this many times anyway. It's one thing to fail a few classes and struggle to get good grades if you aren't a good student, it's another to use not liking school/class as an excuse to be lazy, slide through the cracks, not maintain eligibility and not take some responsibility to do something you don't necessarily like to do to do something that you have a chance to be great at. It's part of becoming an adult. Part of that lies on Cris as a father.

Also, keep in mind it's his freakin' kid. Of course he's going to give him the benefit of the doubt. Again and again, apparently.
There's a big difference between giving him "the benefit of the doubt"--on occasion--and coddling him throughout his entire life.

I don't think it's any of our place to cast aspersions on Cris for trying to help his son make it in the NFL.
Those of us with kids near Duron's age or even older have that right to voice our opinions on the matter. Duron has been relying on his dad to come bat for him at every instance of trouble, and that's Cris' fault.

IQ Range from wiki:

145 and over Genius
120?144 Exceptional
110?119 High Average
90?109 Average or Normal
80?89 Dull Normal
70?79 Borderline Deficiency Mild disability
50?69 Moderate disability
20?49 Severe disability
Below 20 Profound disability

So Duron is a borderline Genius?

He stands no chance in the NFL. Entitled boy in a room full of "came from nothing" men? I don't see that going well. With that said, I wish him all the best.

I couldn't agree more. There are 1000 gifted football players out there that never turned it into a career. Only a tiny fraction have the mental determination (not IQ) and physical gifts to make it in the NFL. Lazy "cancer" does not fit the mold of NFL type players. If somebody gives him a chance I am sure he will squander it like every chance he has received to date. Time to grow up Chris...unfortunately not likely to happen.

I suspect there may be a difference between what Chris says about his son when it's for public consumption and what he says to his son in private.

Well, apparently what he's saying in private isn't working either b/c the message is not getting across. Again, that falls back on the parenting aspect.

My son is five, and I already call him lazy when it comes to reading....because I know he can do it...he just doesn't want to.
