WR DeVier Posey (2017 Grey Cup Champion and MVP)

Two things I am counting on from Posey: Barring injury, this will be his last year here. 2nd, I wouldn't be surprised if he is an All-American with 1,200-1,300 receiving yards. Even with our supposed depth and talent, Pryor will still lock in on Posey imo (and a bit on Dane). That's OK with me though, Posey is one of the more rounded receivers in the country. To me it will be interesting to see how A.J. Green and Julio Jones look this year...perhaps Posey passes them on the draft board?
Don't forget about Michael Floyd...But I agree, I look for Posey to have a monster year and be part of the best reciever draft class maybe ever...

I feel like we could be witnessing a Ginn/Gonzales kind of 1-2 punch this season...admittedly, Posey may be a better all-around receiver than Ted...and Dane may not be as great of an over-the-middle guy as Gonzo, I think having that kind of 1-2 punch with an athletic, mobile QB is going to be AMAZING.

Everything just LOOKS so great going into next season...you can't help but expect great things. I'm definitely excited...

Most definitely... :oh:

I like the Ginn/Gonzo comparison to Posey/Sanzo, comparing 3 seasons to 4, Gonzo has him beat. Dane should have an outstanding year even with Posey getting more looks.

Dane Sanzenbacher - College Football

Wow...those are big expectations. I think 1,200-1,300 yards is a bit of reach b/c of our system and Terrelle's running ability. I also think oppossing teams are going to key all over Posey. Much more than last season. Hope Dane, Stoneburner and whoever emereges as the third receiver are ready to step up big. The nice thing Posey has going for him is frame, which allows him to work underneath, but he has the speed to be a deep threat as well.

I think he could be a first rounder as a guy whose stats don't really match his true potential in the NFL.

His stats are awesome for the offense we were running last year. Just to put it in perspective. He had better numbers than BOTH Julio Jones and AJ Green last year (who were ranked 1 and 2 in his class coming out of HS; Posey was 3rd) after getting off to the slower start as a freshman. He will most definitely be a first round draft pick and will probably leave after this year. I will not blame him at all. He is going to take a big leap again this year and I would expect 1000 yards in an offense with incredible weapons and a great running game and great running QB. I don't think 1200-1300 yards is impossible, but likely improbable. He'll be up there pretty high though. And he should be. I know he's working hard to take that next step.

I think we'll definitely see us throw the rock a bit more this year, so that alone bodes well for Devier. Great talent, great player.

As talented as this kid is, I really doubt he's going in the 1st round, whether he goes after this season or the next. WRs are rarely drafted in the 1st. There were 2 drafted this year, 6 last year(which is an anamolly, but there were more teams who reallyneeded one, like say NYG and Philly), and in 2008 there were none, 6 in 2007(including Ginn, a bust, and Gonzo, who the jury is still out) and none in 2006. Teams usually wait until the 2nd round at the earliest to draft their WRs, because its an easier position to find players for. Not saying at all that this kid doesn't have talent, but if the draft were today, I wouldnt see him going over either of the guys in the SEC, he may slide ahead of one of them is puts up great numbers this year. But because of their size and speed, NFL teams will look at those 2 first, with probably a tie between Floyd and Posey. But regardless, he should be a productive WR in the league for whoever gets him.

Jonathan Baldwin is going before any of these guys. And then AJ Green and then Posey. Look at the receivers in this years draft, they don't compare to what the guys in Posey's class. Not even close, except for Bryant. Brian Robiskie went at the top of the 2nd round and if you don't think Posey is more talented than him then you truly are nuts. How many receivers go in the 1st round depends on the talent level. People don't just not draft them in the first for no reason. Posey is a first round talent. Next year is going to be another one of those "6 in the first round" years with Baldwin, Green, Posey, Jones, Floyd, and DeAndre Brown all having a chance to go in the first round along with whatever senior receivers there are out there.

Posey needs to improve upon his concentration before anyone starts talking 1st/2nd round. Posey's numbers definitely were very good last year, but he dropped a fair number of balls and showed the same tendency again this spring.

I like the guy and am really glad he's with the good guys, but he's got to cut down on the dropsies.

The one thing I want to start seeing more from DeVier this year is bringing down some 50/50 balls. The great receivers do it. I can't think of one that Posey has brought in yet in his career. I'm sure there are some, but I just can't think of many. He also needs to improve his concentration and consistency...still see too many drops for my liking. The kid's potential is through the roof, though. Has a chance to have one of the best years ever for a tOSU receiver, imo.

I don't think our passing game is going to be used to the extent for Posey to have the numbers you're speaking of. With us going 7 deep at RB and having Pryor back there, our priority is the run game. I just don't see Posey even getting 1000yds next year due to the fact that our offense won't be set up in a spread mentality where we're slinging the ball around all game. And also we have to factor that Dane is more of the security blanket WR than Posey is. Posey's stats aren't going to warrant him going in the 1st rd. But he will still make a GM very happy, wherever he goes.

Btw, kingleon, talent doesn't always mean you're going high in the draft. Team needs have A LOT to do with where a player is drafted as well. Teams in next years draft may have more of a need for DL or LB instead of WRs, thus pushing many of them into later rounds. Guys with 1st round talent always can go later.

I think he meant that he wants to see Posey make catches of balls that aren't easy...I agree that I cannot recall any spectacular catches.
