Brian Robiskie, junior, wide receiver

On the crowd at Purdue

"It's a hostile environment and I've heard their student section is pretty crazy. It?s also a night game, so the fans will be even louder and pumped up. We have started to prepare for that this week and we better be ready to go in there and execute like we know how."

On the Purdue defense

"I've looked at their tape a little, and from what I've seen they seem to have a fast secondary. It's an experienced, veteran unit who can really cause problems for an offense. They'll play us tough and they have a home crowd behind them, so it's going to be a challenge to move the ball."

On whether the high ranking has an impact on how the team views itself

"I don't think our high ranking affects how we look at ourselves as a team. We know we have a lot more to accomplish, and it feels good to be recognized, but we want to end up near the top of the polls. If we lose on Saturday, it will all be for nothing."

On the Ohio State receiving corps

"Between Ray (Small), Brian (Hartline) and myself, I think we have come together pretty well. Our main goal is to help Todd (Boeckman) out as much as possible, and I think we've done that a little more in every game. We have a better grip on the playbook now and we're more confident in Todd and his ability to get the ball to us."

Robo showing once again the kind of athletes that attend The Ohio State University, not only great ball players, but intelligent and well spoken. Shows again the impact of JT on his players and how he prepares and mentors them, not only for football, but for life.

Todd is a very good QB, but IMO he should allow all the WRs to "help him out". Robo is a jewel, so are Hartline and Ray. The freshman will find their groove, and maybe it's a matter of timing and more experience. But throw them the ball, test them deep, mix it up and see what they can do. Maybe they can add even more to the impressive WR threat that we have. For now I'm happy with it and they're getting reps, but I'm just waiting for another Dane or Taurian TD to light up that scoreboard. For now the tests come on short passes for first downs and slants. That's OK, they're happy to be in the game getting PT. But they are very competitive and know what a TD feels like. I'm pretty sure these Freshman can get open, give Robo a rest and throw it deep to one of the kids.

Note: Wisky is taking advantage of WR Kyle Jefferson, did anyone see the run and catch he made last week before getting dinged up? Freshman.

I understand that you are a huge fan of Dane, but to answer your question, Dane and Taurian simply do not know the offense enough and understand the route adjustments against different coverages to take reps from Robo and Hartline. Boeckman has been throwing to #9 and #80 much longer then the freshmen, and has gotten into a groove and common understanding of what Robo and Hartline are going to do before they are doing it. The freshmen are getting plenty of reps, and they will only increase as the years goes on if they continue to improve.

yeah, that jefferson hit made my friends and I rewind, play, and shout "OMG" every time.

I liked the hit, but I don't think he shoulda celebrated. Just not that classy.
I really like watching Robo on the field, and off the field he carries himself pretty classy!

Ah Yes, my Dane bias always comes through. They are learning and as long as they're in the game, there's the potential to score. I'm just saying that we could take advantage of the primary receivers being covered and TB could find one the kids open and less covered. I can wait.

Robiskie can't impress dad

COLUMBUS Sure, Brian Robiskie enjoys making the tough catch. But the Ohio State wide receiver doesn't do it to impress himself. Maybe his dad, though.

Robiskie's father, Terry, is a former NFL player and currently the receivers coach for the Miami Dolphins. Terry Robiskie landed on South Beach after coaching the Browns for six seasons.

When his son made a circus catch to get Ohio State's offense going Saturday in Minnesota, Papa Robiskie probably reacted like any father. But he didn't let his son know it.

Robiskie caught a Todd Boeckman pass for a 52-yard touchdown. It gave Ohio State a 20-7 lead going into halftime. Robiskie's catch was snagged over a defender, almost with one hand.

Robiskie can always get a second opinion

Jim Naveau | [email protected] - 10.04.2007

COLUMBUS ? Brian Robiskie?s dad isn?t a harsh evaluator of his performance at wide receiver for Ohio State, but he is an informed evaluator.
Terry Robiskie, a five-year NFL veteran as a player, has coached in the pros for more than 25 years, including a stretch as receivers coach, offensive coordinator and interim head coach for the Cleveland Browns. He is currently the Miami Dolphins receivers coach.
So, what did dad think about the diving 52-yard touchdown catch Brian made in Ohio State?s 30-7 win over Minnesota last Saturday that was played on the highlights shows from coast to coast?
?He mentioned it, but he went right back and talked about that route I dropped and some other blocks I didn?t do too well on. He mentioned it, but he had some other things to talk about,? Robiskie said.
Robiskie has 25 catches for 530 yards and six touchdowns in five games this season for No. 4 Ohio State (5-0, 2-0 Big Ten), which plays at No. 23 Purdue (5-0, 1-0 Big Ten) on Saturday night.
He is first in the Big Ten in touchdown catches and pass reception yardage, even though he has 15 fewer catches than Dorien Bryant, of Purdue, who leads the conference with 40. Robiskie has a 68-yard touchdown catch in addition to last week?s 52-yarder.[FONT=Georgia, Times New Roman, Times, serif]

Galloway, Glenn, Boston ... and now Robiskie?

JASON LLOYD, Morning Journal Writer

COLUMBUS -- Before there was Brian Robiskie, there was Michael Jenkins.

Robiskie is the long, lanky Ohio State receiver making all the big catches. Five years ago, in Purdue's Ross-Ade Stadium, it was Jenkins playing the long, lanky role in saving Ohio State's perfect season with an incredible 37-yard touchdown catch on fourth-and-1.

The Buckeyes went on to win a national championship, but not without that dramatic 10-6 victory when defeat seemed inevitable.

''Everyone thought that was just a wonderful play call throwing for that touchdown,'' coach Jim Tressel said. ''(Jenkins) was the fourth choice in his progression, so he was a decoy, but the first three were covered and Craig Krenzel was far enough along in his maturity that he wasn't going to throw it to the covered guys. That was a good win, that was a tough win, and I expect it to be just as tough this Saturday night.''

Someone is (always open). I'm going to go out on a limb and say they under-estimate the young WRs, so let's go down the street and buy a freshman pair of TDs at the local 7-11. It seems so "convenient". TB just needs to do a little shopping.

Robiskie breaks out as go-to guy
Junior wide receiver shows ability to make spectacular deep catches

By George M. Thomas Beacon Journal sportswriter

Published on Friday, Oct 05, 2007

COLUMBUS: Receiver Brian Robiskie arrived at Ohio State with experience on his side.

His first two years in Columbus, he had to wait behind stars Ted Ginn Jr. and Anthony Gonzalez. Now with opportunity serving as a guide, the son of an NFL wide receivers coach has dashed to become one of the leading wideouts in college football.

Consider the numbers: 25 catches for 530 yards, an average of 21.2 yards per catch and six touchdowns.

Robiskie, a junior from Chagrin Falls High, leads the Big Ten in yards per catch and yards per game, and he has developed into a bona-fide deep threat for first-year starting quarterback Todd Boeckman, who now looks for Robiskie.

''I just have so much confidence in him that he's going to get open and make a play,'' Boeckman said.

Robiskie's quarterback isn't the only one who has come to rely on his skills. Just Tuesday, he was named the team's offensive player of the week for his performance against Minnesota in a 30-7 victory.

Robiskie ''is a kid who really studies the game,'' OSU coach Jim Tressel said. ''He's very disciplined in his route running. He's long. He goes out with those hands, and he can reach out and pluck the ball out of the air in a lot of different ways. Whether they're coming over top or they're going side to side or they're going down toward the ground, he just has got excellent hands, excellent eye-hand coordination.''

''All I tell him is: 'Your goal in life is to go win and go win a national championship with Ohio State. Go be a leader and go do what you're supposed to do. Do everything you can to enjoy your day and time in college, because you only get one day and one time to be in college.'''

Terry Robiskie also enjoys his son's time at Ohio State. He loved Brian's feat in Minnesota just before the first half ended Saturday.

''He made a hell of a catch. It was a hell of a play,'' the father said with a mixture of pride and excitement.
