WR Brandon Inniss (Official Thread)

5-star WR Brandon Inniss tuned down lucrative NIL deals to play for Hartline and Ohio State

Ohio State five-star signee Brandon Inniss had some lucrative NIL offers late in his recruiting process, as programs tried to get the Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage standout to change his mind regarding a college decision he had made during the summer.

Inniss obviously didn’t budge and the All-American put pen to paper with the Buckeyes in December as one of the jewels of a class ranked No. 6 nationally by the 247Sports Composite.

“I had numerous conversations with my parents, just talking to them and figuring it out,” Inniss told 247Sports at All-American Bowl check-in. “Do you take the money now or do you get developed to be the best you can be, and in the long run you’ll earn more money and be more ready and developed by the time you get to the NFL.”

“What excites me most is when I get on campus, just learning from the best receiver coach in college football and having guys like Marvin (Harrison) and Emeka (Egbuka) in the room. Me working every day with them is going to make me a better player and I’m excited to do that.”

You have to like him more is right. Kid gets the big picture and we'll develop him. Next future stud WR here.

Really happy we could keep him on board, but all these stories about us not even offering competitive NIL deals is a tad worrisome.

I held off on saying this, but I thought the same thing. I think we'll adjust, but we have to. Clout only runs so far and that runway is probably the next recruiting cycle. Despite the late defections and losing targets we were favored on, we still had a great class. But we won't repeat that most likely at positions that aren't QB or WR moving forward without some changes.

That’s not what this article says.

Seems to me like it does. That quote clearly implies we aren't offering the same kind of NIL money as other schools. Kienholz has said as much too

The tone of the article is that other schools came in with larger offers in efforts to get him to flip late. Not that OSU isn’t offering competitive NIL deals.
