Does it show in Device Manager? If so, run updates on the drivers, restart the computer and that should correct it.

No, which is really making me wonder what is going on. I went to the Lenovo website to see if I could download a driver for Windows 10 for it, but can't find that there is a supporting driver for my computer. It does seem to be a common problem with this computer from what I am seeing.

Anybody find their computer hijacked over the week-end by the W10 "upgrade"? I actually let the blasted thing run, but I learned in the first hour today to hate it. Apparently, for a lot of people in the last couple days, Microsoft didn't think "no" meant "no" and just ran 10 as a update without permission. I know I'd been getting notices about it for months (kind of like being badgered by an unwanted stalker) but then I happened to open the pc yesterday and saw a notice that my so-called update was going to start in ten minutes. Pretty damn questionable to just install it behind people's backs when they haven't actually chosen to do so. Saw some interesting theories about why they pulled this...and some threats re class action suits.

I know a couple icons for programs/files disappeared from my desktop, but other than CCleaner, I haven't been able to figure out what's missing.

Wondering if anyone has tried reverting back yet? I'm seeing some iffy posts online about bad things happening. For one, someone said you permanently lose the calculator from 8.1, which is something I use all the time.

My son has a gaming PC on Win7. I suggested he take the Win10 upgrade. He tried it, but not all of his games worked on it. I did a quick search online and found a revert/restore option. I think it might be somewhere in the control panel. Anyhow, it was a very simple process and he has not complained since then. I think this was a few months ago.

Yes, the "hey we upgraded you" has been a thing/problem for awhile now.

I'm sure I'm too late, but then I need to create the best calculator app for windows 8 and sell it for .50. That guy who sold the start menu widget sold over a million copies

If you are upgrading to a different OS, regardless of what it is.

Clone your current system partition (You ARE using separate partitions for OS/System files & data right? RIGHT?)
Reformat the partition.
Do a clean install of the new OS.

If you need to rollback then all you need to do is drop the clone image back on the partition.

Of course I'm separating my partitions and reformatting my OS systems. Data files. Cybernetic rollback almost daily. I'm not a moron.

Actually, I've already restored 8.1 since I made the post. Yeah, the calculator link in the taskbar stopped working, but it wasn't deleted from the system. I just had to search it, send it to my desktop & put it back in the taskbar. So far, I don't see anything else defective.

I does look like the "upgrade" is still lurking disguised as an uninstalled 8.1 update. I'll have to search & destroy those, but otherwise, no harm done.

Well, the Windows 10 update wasn't working at all (wouldn't load the files). When Googling for a solution, some suggested that the error message given implied security updates were missing. When I went into Widnows Updates and searched for updates, it hung. So Google said to open command prompt, run "net stop wuauserv" and "net stop bits", the go into msconfig and choose "Selective Startup" and clear the "Load startup items" check box, and finally hide all and select all Microsoft Services and reboot. I did so, was then update to get security updates (40) and install them. Upon reboot, I ran "net start wuauserv" and "net start bits", and went back into msconfig and set the start type back to "Normal startup", ensured all Windows services were enabled, and rebooted. That's went shit hit the fan. I get nothing but a black screen and movable cursor after entering my password at the login prompt. I can get into Task Manager via Ctrl-Alt-Del and check stuff, and explorer.exe is running but not functioning. Now, I can still open program via Task Manager (that's why I'm able to post here), but obviously not having Windows Explorer working sucks.

@Dryden have you seen this before?

Double check [HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] with regedit and make sure 'Shell' is set to 'explorer.exe' and Userinit is set to 'c:\Windows\system32\userinit.exe'
Mahaloz. Ended up not having to resort to that since Explorer decided to start working after being fucking dormant for about 20 minutes. Finally got the upgrade to work and am cruising around with the Edge browser. Holy shit, it's way faster than IE and I haven't had a single instance (yet) of the browser stopping and having to "close and reopen the tab"...that was getting fairly common while browsing BP.

I've upgraded both my comps, both wifey's comps and the step-kid's comp to Windows 10 and all went off without a hitch. Now, only two of those were store bought. The rest I built myself so they never had all the bullshit bloatware on them. The two store bought computers were running 8.1, the others Win 7...
