William Buford Chasing the Scoring Record Tracker

Hurt him pretty badly today. I think he'll need to get a huge game somewhere to make up, in the 30's.

Honestly, I don't think he cares about the record. He's been a team player and has done what was asked of him from the day he set foot on campus. Love this guy.

I agree. Buford seems to be a really great kid that just enjoys playing the game. I loved how pumped he was during the Duke game...he was jumping all over the place chest bumping during an early timeout. Awesome.

I'm still amazed that we have been blessed with 4 years of this kid. When he first came in, I was thinking we'd be lucky to have him stick around for 2 years.

Between JJ leaving in 92 and the arrival of the Lighty class in 2006, only two guys appear on this list (Redd & Dials). Four guys since then are in this list, including two from the same class. :yow1:

Thad

I literally would have killed to have Dials around for the year that Oden was here. Could you imagine what that would have been like?

17 PPG exactly for Buford to make it to the record at 40 games (32 games left, 544 points needed)

If Buford indeed averages that (or anything close to that) as we get into Big Ten season, Ohio State likely won't lose a game within the Big Ten.

Game 9: at Kansas
Game Points: 21
Season Points: 149
Scoring average: 16.5
Total Points: 1,573
Moved up two spots to #11... passed Terrance Dials and Allan Hornyak. 24 points behind #10 Robin Freeman. PPG average is back on track to break the record if the Bucks play 40 games (regular season plus 3 games in B1G tournament and 6 games in NCAA tournament).

I would love to see him break the record in the sixth game of the NCAA tournament on a buzzer beater to win

Shame on the people who were almost bashing Buford during the first half of the Kansas game. I didn't see many props for him during the second half from the same people:shake:
Kind of a too little too late situation. If Buford would have had done SOMETHING in the first half, the game could have played out way differently.

When a player like Sullinger is out, it changes everything. I think they have a hard time running the same sets they would with him in. This will impact Buford's looks.

Even if he just had an off half, he is human. Not fair to judge someone based on a half of basketball at a tough venue against a good team.

This team has national championship potential. I'm sure Buford will take that over the scoring title. If he gets it in the process, even better.

Should be less emphasis on it this early in the season though.

If Buford doesn't play the way he did in the second half the game is a blow out. Just sayin', it works both ways.

Really?

You realize it was a 62-58 game with 5:45 left based mostly on Craft's defense and Buford's offense in the second half? Buford fueled the second half. Like Thomas in the first half without Buford's production in the second half the game would have been a blowout.
