Who will be tOSU's head coach on July 1, 2012? (betting closed)

HOLY BUCKEYE!!!

I feel like alot of people are a little too quick to throw the current staff under the bus.

Barring a total collapse by the Buckeyes does it make sense to blow up
the coaching staff and start completely over?

I agree that the offense could use a little spark and that there are
some good reasons that Bollman is not everyone's favorite playcaller.
But this staff has overseen a decade in which the Buckeyes finished
the season with a higher average ranking in both polls than any other
team in the country. Throw in the national championship and the
Buckeyes have arguably been the best team in the nation for the
2000's. And they have inarguably been the most CONSISTENTLY
excellent.
The defense has been so good as to have been unbelievable. I have
never seen any unit on any team in the country reload like the
Buckeyes defense did during the Tressel era.

I don't think that the staff needs to be blown up and I don't think that anyone should be fired.

I think bringing in a playcaller like a Matt Canada formerly of Indiana or a guy like Blake Anderson from Southern Miss
might be able to work with the current staff and bring something new to the table. Lets not forget that Tressel
called the plays, not Bollman. He is not an old hand at this. I don't imagine that his feelings would be so hurt that he would quit
if someone came in to be the co-offensive coordinator and call plays next year.

I just think that these guys have been too good for too long to clean
house, not to mention the deep relationships they have with Ohio high
school football, the life blood of the program. Just look at Michigan
during the Rodriguez era. That is what cleaning house looks like (the
fact that no one there gave him a chance notwithstanding). Thanks
for your time and go Buckeyes.

Serious questions: If OSU goes undefeated the rest of the way....do we keep Luke? Do we keep Luke and demand changes on the offensive side of the ball? Do we keep Luke and give him carte Blanche to remake the coaching staff any way he sees fit, including keeping certain members on the offensive side of the ball????

I hope we get to the point where this is not just fodder for message board speculation!

I would think we would keep him. If we win out we will have had an 11-3 season a B1G championship a Rose Bowl win and a win @Tsun, assuming either Neb or Bucky beat Penn State.

Edit: By if we win out I mean WHEN we win out.

YES!

If we win out, and Penn State loses to another team, that means we will be the Leaders division champs. The next game will be the B1G title game, if we are eligible pending NCAA rulings. We win that and we are in the Rose Bowl, pending NCAA rulings. So if Ohio State wins out, they will be B1G Champs and Rose Bowl Champs. How can you not keep Luke after what all has happened this year. With all the players that have been suspended or not here. That will be a tremendous job of coaching.

Lets put it this way, if you are going to hire a head coach you are going to look at their resume. There is a coach that as a Defensive coordinator has produced top 10 defenses year in and year out. Was named the assistant coach of the year. As a head coach he lead a team to the a major conference championship and won the Rose Bowl (in this scenario you put forth). This coach also has ties to Ohio and Ohio State. Would this man not be at the top of you list?

HAHA!

If Gene Smith hires Luke Fickell as Head Coach at THE Ohio State University, one of the top 2 or 3 jobs in the country, that would be his dumbest move yet...Don't get me wrong, I love Fick as a DC, but some of the top coaches in the country would be knocking down the doors to get the job! And you don't think that Heacock had a lot to do with our defense being in the top 10? The way he handled the QB situation was absolutely horrible! I just don't see hiring an unproven head coach when you could have just about anyone you want. Even with the suspensions, Ohio State is LOADED with talent and should not be 4-3!
