What SEC team would you like to play AWAY?

That would be nice, but good luck getting them to play us. (Props to aub, ark for playing usc)

our past future Home and homes: Big East- WVU
big 12- Texas, Oklahoma
Pac 10-Ucla, Wash st., Wash, USC
ACC- da U, Va Tech, NC State (great games)
Indies- ND
SEC??

I was thinking the same thing. OSU probably wouldn't go there just for one game and you can't get the SEC schools to leave their own backyard to play us on the road or in a home/home series. I think other schools at least make an attempt to put a tough road non-conference game on the schedule every few years if a return trip is scheduled as well. You see some in-state rivary games some but most of those are David vs. Giliath match-ups, except the "U", UF, FSU games in florida.

I think OSU to UGA or maybe even Rocky-top would be 2 exciting games. Just to see the Buckeye Nation show up in full force. And to see how the Bucks match up with some of the other 2-3 best teams in the conference. Sure the SEC has some great teams, but for all the SEC fans that think OSU would lose 4-5 games every year if they played in that conferencee, it would be nice to get that chance other than in a NC situation.

Tennessee and Virginia Tech have come close to agreeing to play each other at Bristol Motor Speedway in the past with the blessing of the speedway's owner. He would have to tear down infield building and such to make it football accomodatable.

JUST THINK. Ohio State vs Tennessee at Bristol Motor Speedway in front of 175,000............................

So Bama played em and it was a credible win. We'll play them and they will have really fallen off since playing Bama. When Tennessee plays them it will just go to show that the SEC is the premiere conference selling out the largest venues in the world. No thank you.

The forgotten game–Bristol Motor Speedway
brb-566x305.jpg

It’s a game that is rarely talked about, but it did happen. The year was 1961 and the game was between the Washington Redskins and the Philadelphia Eagles. It took place in the infield of Bristol Motor Speedway. The game celebrated its 5oth anniversary two years ago we were lucky enough to catch up and talk with the starting tailback for the Eagles, at the the time, Billy Ray Barnes. Barnes says he doesn’t remember much.

“That damn game was 52 years ago and I’m glad I don’t remember much. When we showed up at Bristol the field was the worst field I had ever seen. We played a game one time at the Fairgrounds in Ohio and it was just a tick better than the field at Bristol.”

When we were talking to BRB during our interview we got the idea that the times were a lot different back then. “We just went and played where we were told. We were getting 50 bucks a game and thought we were rich. When they told us we were playing at Bristol Motor Speedway, well, we just went and played.” Even though the game was just an NFL exhibition it still drew plenty of fans. “The crowd was good, but it felt like a practice. The stands were so far away from the field it was hard to get into it. We couldn’t even hear the fans cheering until we were leaving the game.”

Any combination of Ohio State v Rocky Top v Texas would be the only combinations that would be able to sell out 175k. Maybe USC. I know teams like LSU and Bama have big fan bases, but I don't know if 100k fans would be willing to take out a second/third mortgage to get there.

Good point that the fans are REALLY far from the field. They might have to bring some kind of bleachers onto the track (sideline, endzone may be difficult) somehow just to get some noise on the field.
