What Brands Are You Loyal To?

Salved my gambling losses from last weekend by pulling the trigger on the roughout suede Chukka boots from No Time To Die. Bodiley's in England originally said that it would be around four weeks due to high demand, but they found a pair in my size and got them to me via DHL today.

These have become my motherfucking go to's. Wearing them more than all other boots and shoes combined.

I think there's some youtube reviews and comparisons out there. I don't remember having watched one though. Check out amd see if the Rose Anvil guy has cut some in half. Those are thorough reviews.

Check out Truman Boots.

OK, I will check out the youtubes. I was looking for something a little more kick through the shit than spending $500 on customs I then would probably not want to kick through the shit (not that they couldn't handle it) -- but I kinda ruled out the Redwing Classics for the same reason.

I think some Iron Rangers would be perfect (brutal break-in period though). Not all that expensive ≈325 but still completely made in the US and Goodyear welted. Certain chromexcel Allen Edmonds would also do. Depending on the sale, you can get them for low 300s or even a bit under 300. My Pattons list for 440, but I paid 331 and have seen them for 281 during a sale.

Well, your guy just had Thorogood Moc Toes as his best all around of 2021. So, I guess he likes them.

Iron Rangers are on the list, we will see what happens.

I was looking at these:

That's a hell of a video.

I kind of wish my Islay had a lug/commando sole instead of Dainite. I won't change them over though because then they wouldn't be Skyfall accurate. Because, Skyfall. And while those black Islay with the lug soles are calling me, I'm going to pass. I'm going to put some good wear on the three pairs of boots that I bought in the last twelve months.

And I will say just because they're high-falutin English boots, doesn't mean that they're not every bit as tough as a pair of Iron Rangers. It just takes a while to cross the Rubicon to where you don't mind getting them in the muck. Mine just came back from a walk in a wet and muddy Lincoln Park with the pup. They'll dry, get wiped with a damp rag and hit with a pig bristle brush, and they'll be as good as new.

Well I put myself on the Allen Edmonds email list. If the stars line up, we might be able to do some business. Meantime I need something for pretty off the beaten path.
