What are you currently watching on TV?

The Night Of. I really like the 8-or-so episode/one season shows when they're done well. They're like a really well-written short story/novella; See Harrison, Jim. Eight to ten hours to tell the story with some depth and complexity without the rush to pack everything into two hours or dragging it out over more than one season. This one is really good. Last night's episode bogged down a little for me, but the acting is top-notch. Plus, if it gets too dark, Ballers comes on right after to balance your equilibrium.

This is something that has bothered me, as I think HBO has their scheduling backwards. Maybe I'm conditioned to decades of network TV, but I think it works better to lead with the comedies and end the night with the drama, such as when NBC assembled their Thursday night ratings wrecking ball back in the 80s and 90s and opened with four half-hour comedies and concluded with the one-hour drama.

Something about finishing Game of Thrones and then rolling right into Silicon Valley, Veep, and John Oliver kills the weight and feels from the dramas' cliff hanger endings and heart wrenching deaths.

Brain Dead on CBS.

Found it On Demand into the 3rd or 4th episode. Tony Shalhoub is the main known name to me. Thought it was quirky and amusing. (Bugs have crawled into certain people's brains in D. C., and made them crazy--so, sort of a documentary.)

But, in a show that I watch for laughs, an episode based around one of the main characters being prepped for torture wasn't amusing to me.
Not my idea of funny. Turned it off in the middle.

So, I may or may not go back.

Have a Netflix free trial so we have been binge watching various series.
House of Cards.......the first 2 years was very enjoyable but it lost momentum after 2 years. Good cast. Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright are awesome.
The Borgias......very interesting and a fun watch. Beautiful women. Good acting and cast.
