What are you currently watching on TV?

"The Strain" Nice retake on the whole "vampire" thing.

"Manhattan" Well done drama on the Manhattan Project and scientists living in remote Los Alamos.

"Soylent Green" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070723/plotsummary
A tale of Earth in despair in 2022. Natural food like fruits, vegetables, and meat among others are now extinct. Earth is overpopulated and New York City has 40 million starving, poverty stricken people. The only way they survive is with water rations and eating a mysterious food called Soylent. Global Warming? Bah! Let them eat people!

US open is on. You can't convince me that Serena isn't a post-Op. Seriously, she's built like a dude.

Looking into some classic (i.e. 80s) shows/cartoons on DVD for a long car trip with the kiddos, trying to come up with some fun stuff that's interesting enough for our older one but not too scary/violent for the little one... Looking for suggestions/advice if anyone has reintroduced their kids to the stuff from our childhood.

Big Sis has never seen them but somehow is all about Ghostbusters and TMNT right now: 1st season of The Real Ghostbusters is in a great package on Amazon for 10 bucks but seems like it might be a little scary for a preschooler? I read they rebranded it around Slimer a few seasons in for littler kids, but that makes me think it got pretty crappy right around then (amazing that it was on for 7 seasons!) Anyone showing the old TMNT to their little kids these days? How about the new Nick version?

We all got hooked on Fraggle Rock when it was on Amazon Prime, anything by Jim Henson is great in my book, but then it went away a couple months ago so we bought that one. Probably going with DuckTales for sure, that was one of my favorites in mid-elementary school, loved how they spoofed so many classic stories. Surprising that Muppet Babies is not on DVD...

I bought a dvd set for my daughter and my gf's son, ages 2 & 11 at the time. It's called Warner Bros presents Saturday Morning Cartoons 1980's.
Thundar the Barbarian
Flinstone Kids
Monchhichis
Dragon's Lair
Kwicky Koala...etc...

They both still watch it.

Also bought the complete DuckTales series. They love it, Talespin, Gummi Bears, and all of those, but I watch them more.

Also, while it's not 80's, I can't recommend the new shows Adventure Time, and Regular Show enough. Both from Cartoon Network. Both kids, now nearly four and 12, respectively, love them. It's about the only shows they both shut up and get into. Another plus is they're both damn good shows. Regular Show has all kinds of 80's references too.

Jake singing Bacon Pancakes was my ringtone for awhile. Those two shows are fun.

Good stuff, thanks! Will look into all of those... There's a newer one called Jane and the Dragon that is supposed to be cool for lil girls too, $5 makes that an easy pick.

Flashpoint (on Netflix streaming). Strategic response unit (bombs, hostages, etc). Good action, good characters. Enjoyable and easy to get into.

Psych (on Netflix streaming). The early episodes are even more enjoyable once you've made it all the way through the series.

The Colbert Report.

About the only thing we watch semi-regularly on TV when USA isn't airing Suits and Covert Affairs.
