What are you currently watching on TV?

The Travel Channel. Was just about to change the channel when Mysteries at the Museum went to Columbus, Ohio. They ended up at a Grove City museum of baseball. The story is about an artifact in his museum from Arthur Cummings, "inventor of the curve ball". New story to me.

Downright hilarious to hear that in the beginning (1800's) pitchers would be cautioned by the umpire that they were failing to place the ball where the batter wanted it. That would result in just a slightly different game today if that had never changed.

Although, after a bit of googling, looks like there is some controversy about who really created the curve.

“THE BROOKLYN EAGLE”

August 17, 1870.

Fred Goldsmith has won fame by developing a ball that twisted, providing to countless skeptics that a sphere can cheat natural laws.

Yesterday, at the Capitoline grounds, a large crowd assembled and cheered lustily as a youth from New Haven, Conn, named Fred Goldsmith, demonstrated to the satisfaction of all that a baseball could be so manipulated and controlled by throwing it from one given point to another as to make a pronounced arc in space.

Babysitting my nephew this weekend. I'm making breakfast and naturally he wants to watch cartoons. No issue while I'm cooking. He's pretty good at finding what he wants. Mind you, I haven't watched cartoons (save
For the occasional episode of Family Guy) in a very long time.

We eat, I said we can watch another half hour or so then we're going to go stretch our legs and play some catch with the football.

He puts on something called Ben 10..? I mean, you parents, have you seen this shit? I watched about 5 minutes worth with him, grabbed my laptop, HDMI to the tv and found foghorn leghorn on YouTube. Now THAT's a cartoon. I will also shamefully admit that's it's funnier as an adult than it is as a child.

"Manhattan" season is over but WGN(DirecTV 307) is having a "Manhattan" marathon Sunday. So here's your chance to DVR the first season. "Manhattan" has been picked up for a second season. We have a friend who is part of the crew.(filmed in New Mexico) You may know the basic story line about the making of the first atomic bomb. This is a series drama so it's not entirely "factual", like all the sex going on with the characters. But it's well written and acted.

Sleepy Hollow. Not sure I think Season 2 is quite as good as last year, but it's early still. I like the lead actor and find the story they've invented to be interesting.

Maybe a little inspiration from Abe Lincoln, Vampire Hunter? George Washington et al dabbling in the occult and standing up against the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.

I love The Wire, The Simpsons, Game of Thrones, and other high quality television shows.

But I'm not sure if there has ever been anything on tv that equals Band of Brothers for me. Just awesome from start to finish. Baby mama bought me the limited edition box for father's day a couple years ago. I've probably watched it twenty times all the way through.

Watching it now. Damn it's good stuff.
