Re: Buckeyes don't like us ....
Posted: 5/11/05 7:53:09 am For your reference...

According to some WF fans, Matta pays well...

No surprise that your site has already deleted the thread referenced by the Buckeye fans. I remember the thread, and my shock that Wake fans would have post after post about a coach paying recruits DURING an NCAA investigation. To top it off, WakeFan87 ([sarcasm-on]what a classy ambassador[sarcasm-off]) made an appearance on the Bucknuts basketball site long before droves of Buckeyes felt the need to defend their program.

I'll be the first to admit that Ohio State fans come on strong and go overboard...but what motivation do they have to start an argument with a upper-middle tier ACC basketball school? Don't wake the sleeping giant...tOSU fans have had to deal with so much crap in the last year that they will swarm on unjustified attacks and libeling of their program.

I guess this suggests that some of this was brought on by your own ignorant assumptions and your moderators unwillingness to stop baseless accusations and blatant attacks. It appears their mass banning of Ohio State fans wasn't the first preventive action they could have taken, doesn't it?

Can someone give me an update on what these tools are saying? I find their pithy and whiny comments humorous, especially when coupled with the elitism they try to pull off. My school's IP address range has been banned :(

here's what you are missing (or not missing, depending on how you look at it):

1.) aimless specualtion about the news conference today...some of these clowns actually thought by the article's title that Conley and Oden were coming to Columbus to announce they were committing to OSU...morons. others are concerned, and probably rightly so, that this presser is to announce that there will be no further sanctions so as to cut the rumor mill off.

2.) baseless accussations of OSU coaches commenting on recruits prior to NLOID. I have no idea where this crap is coming from...

3.) a wandering argument about the possible NBA age limit which only serves to make them feel better about the fact that they are going to lose Conley and Oden to us. they are hoping that if they don't land them that Oden will bolt to the NBA.

4.) more thoughtless conversation about Salyers newest allegations, which serve no purpose but to help Salyers keep her ugly mug in the media spotlight a little while longer that her alotted 15 minutes.

5.) an awful thread dedicated to the best and worst pot movies of all time (how you can say Half Baked was terrible and in the same post praise Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle I will never understand). One guy votes for Fantasia as the best pot movie of all time, and another votes for Eddie Izzard, who if I am not mistake is a British transvestite comedian (don't ask me how I know that). It was well into page 2 of the thread before anyone mentioned Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, I might add.

6.) a great thread where a yuppy asks a bunch of hilljacks what kind of car tires he should buy.

that's about it...

UNLV and Baylor? Talk about powerhouse programs... :tongue2:

Wake might have taken a small class this year... Duke, UNC, and Kansas reload each year... anybody notice Kentucky isn't on the list? Looks like Washington capitalized on their strong season last year...

Buckeyes' woes won't deter Oden, Conley

By Jeff Rabjohns

Greg Oden and Mike Conley won't shy away from considering playing at Ohio State after this week's formal announcement of alleged NCAA violations by the basketball program, Conley's father said.

Mike Conley Sr. said the alleged violations were essentially what the Lawrence North High School stars knew about from previous reports, and for which the Buckeyes already served a one-year self-imposed ban from postseason play.

"It wasn't any new news," said Conley Sr., coach of the players' AAU team. "Based on what's out there, the boys still feel it won't have an effect. That's not to say there won't be potential penalties, but it won't affect them."

The seven alleged violations occurred under former coach Jim O'Brien. The NCAA could still choose to punish the team further, but major penalties, such as a further postseason ban, are not expected.

Conley Sr. said it would take extremely severe sanctions to take Ohio State out of the mix for his son and Oden, two of the top players in the class of 2006. "The NCAA would have to give them a three-year death sentence of no postseason play for it to affect them," he said.

Conley, a 6-1 point guard, has said Ohio State and Wake Forest are his top choices. Oden, a 7-foot center, lists Ohio State, Wake Forest, Indiana and Michigan State as his final four.

Thad Matta, the former Butler coach headed into his second season at the Ohio State helm, has never been in trouble with the NCAA.

"They're picking their schools based on the people," Conley Sr. said. "At Wake Forest and Ohio State, there are good people associated with those programs."

i thought it would be funny watching them all flip out about their academics, OSU's probation, Matta cheating, the ACC being the only conference that is allowed to get good recruits......

instead they have all beat themselves down with the realization that they aren't getting these 2.

Posted: 5/19/05 10:11:17 am Seriously, probably due to no fault of these two individuals and more to the fact that I spend way too much time on the boards but really I'M SICK OF CONLEY AND ODEN!

Just make a frickin' decision already.
Yikes! Way to jump on a couple of teenagers making one of the biggest decisions in their lives. :shake:
