Vince Young (unemployed)

Okay and understood you now. Vince Young seemed very strong in the RoseBowl last year against Michigan. His performance against Ohio State
was impressive enough. But that victory against us, gave him a big boost
to carry his incentive and goal to an undefeated season.

A game like that, was of magnitude perportions. I have friends in Austin who were worried about that game. Thats how much respect the Horns had for our Buckeyes and especially the crowd and noise in the Shoe. They all said that Vince will never forget that game in Columbus, even if he did not win the Heisman. His goal was to cover the return to RoseBowl and he has accompished that - thanks to the Buckeyes.

Is that so wrong? :wink2:

Honestly, that post is much closer to the truth than I care to admit.

" There have been two people that I have seen play in all my years involved with Texas High School Football that were absolute men among boys; 1 is Earl Campbell the other is Vincent Young"

~ Coach Mike Johnson Katy High School Head Football Coach, 2003

also for the record there is nothing really significant about coach johnson other than he was my coach and at the time we were a nationaly ranked team(still are I think)

He is typical of that whole team. Just superb physical ability.
I don't like him as a pro qb. His skills are way too raw.
Just a great college qb. Heisman worthy.
In most other years he would walk away with the Heisman.

According to a blog on espnews yesterday VY is gone after the rose bowl...

"I know he has made an announcement to the contrary, but Vince Young is gone. Sources say he has already made up his mind that he is done after the Rose Bowl and will be headed to the NFL. It'll be interesting to see how Young handles all of the hype that comes from the bowl run-up time, especially in such a big media market." - Bruce Fieldman

We gotta like our chances going into Austin next season.....

As for the browns, maybe its too early but i would think that they are happy with frye

Yep. There's no way the Browns spend a high draft pick (3rd round or earlier) on a QB. Frye's their QB of the future until he proves he doesn't deserve the job. And judging by his last two games, he'll be just fine. Besides, the Browns have way too many other glaring needs to spend another pick on a QB.

There's no guarantee at all here. This is just the media trying to create a story by blowing VY's comments out of proportion. All he was doing was speaking highly of his team, as a good teammate should. There was no hot-dogging there at all.

Young waiting on NFL opinions

AUSTIN -- Texas quarterback Vince Young sounds like someone who hasn’t made up his mind about whether to return to UT for his final year of eligibility.
When asked Wednesday if the outcome of the Bowl Championship Series national title game at the Rose Bowl on Jan. 4 against USC could impact his decision regarding next year, Young said, “Somewhat.”
“I haven’t gotten any word yet from the NFL guys about how they feel about me, so that’s why I say my decision is basically to come back and be with my teammates,” Young said.

Texas QB Vince Young - early entry to NFL

Now that the Rose Bowl is over, he'd be the biggest dumbass in the universe NOT to enter the draft:

Here's my reasoning: He's on the top of the world right now, obviously. He just won the biggest game of his life, MVP of the Rose Bowl... he has NOTHING left to prove. Earlier in December he cried about not winning the Heisman Trophy (like that REALLY matters, just ask Jason White) and so the only motivation you see for him coming back next year would be to win a Hesiman Trophy (again, that really means nothing in the grand scheme of your future NFL career). His stock in the NFL draft is so high right now, it's incredible. He HAS to be a Number 1 pick ahead of Reggie Bush or 2, ahead of Leinhart. Speaking of which, Leinhart proved to me tonight that he is NOT a better quarterback than Young. Why? He plays like an old man unable to move about in the pocket. How many times did he simply not run away from pressure but rather just stand there as an easy target tonight? On the last play of the game the idiot ran around the pocket and everywhere looking for an open receiver, wasting all time remaining on the clock and any shot at a possible game tying FG. Vince Young? He ran DOWNFIELD for First Downs, finding open receivers if he could, and if he couldn't he made the play with his legs. He is a straight drop back passer who is too dependent on his offensive line. I think a scrambling; accurate QB like Vince Young is the way of the future. Young proved one thing; he can WIN the game with his RUNNING ability.

I think Vince Young proved tonight he's ready for the NFL. He's able to run, and more importantly throw on the run. He's up there with the Jake Plummer, Donovan McNabb, Daunte Culpepper, and Mike Vick as being able to make the play on the run. To stay in the program for another year would be a waste of his career. He has nothing left to prove at UT - staying another year for Leinhart proved to be nothing more than a waste of time for him as well. Vince Young is already proven he's one of the most proficient passers in the college game and he can make the play running the ball. It's time for him to go and make the millions he does deserve. IMO

Wow... You can not come out on a better note then that... Can not happend. Even though Mack Brown was saying we expect him to be back, but he can not leave on a better note.

I want Texas at their best but man do we really want to face them without Hawk and company... Wow
