Urban F. Meyer (Former OSU, CFB and NFL coach)

And it's 95% bullshit. The defense has had the same problems since game 1. And offense? Has it really gotten worse or have we just actually started playing decent competition? Oregon State and Rutgers are 2 of the absolute worst FBS teams and TCU was vastly overrated.

The only thing I'll agree with is the offensive playcalling hasn't been as quick and smooth as the first 3 games.
Yeah the Purdue game looked a lot like the TCU game. Only difference is the defense didn’t score two defensive TDs to put pressure on Purdue.

Again I don’t see any change in the teams play. I see a change in the competition.

We have to be the only team in the country.. that has fans, talking heads and media... clamoring for Meyer to step down... because he lost A GAME
Has to be the ultimate in spoiled
Yeah a good segment of the fan base is spoiled, but this feels more like the media and outsiders doing everything they can to take Urban out. It’s like he’s a wounded animal and the pack is closing on him to finish him off.

There's a lot more to it than just losing to Purdue, but I agree that wanting to move on is crazy. It's peak insanity after watching Bama's success year after year. There are serious issues regarding coaching hires and Meyer still having an offensive identity crisis, but fans need to remember that he's won 12+ games in 5 of 6 seasons. Before that, OSU had only had 3 such seasons (2010 being vacated). Most great coaches don't consistently have those kind of results.

If you look at the final years of Woody Hayes tenure at Ohio State, the Buckeyes were ranked #5 or higher in five of the last seven years. Buckeye fans repeatedly talked about how Woody needed to step down.

Riding Woody's recruits, Bruce ended his first year ranked in the top five. It would be 17 seasons before Ohio State would end the season ranked in the top 5 again.

I will say, to those of you who say Urban Meyer needs to go, what I heard my father tell our barber week after week. A long winter can follow the summer, so be very careful what you wish for.

I personally prefer winter over summer but I'll keep the analogy with summer. Have to be out of your god dammed minds wanting Meyer gone. scUM troll, just an idiot, on your period or anger due to erectile dysfuntion. Nonsense and overly emotional conclusion like a bitch ass hoe. #hasMeyersbackandlovesbourbon

Obviously not directed at you Steve. Thread got dumber than the previous Dildo thread. That's hard to do.

I heard some Commentary that missing Urban during camp and the first 3 weeks is where the problems with the team started.

Yeah, Ill buy that. Not that unbelievable. After all, that's almost a two-month hiatus.

And there are still people that think (1) he should have been punished for doing nothing wrong, and (2) he needed to be taken down a peg or two and become completely subservient to the incompetent administration and equally incompetent PR department.

But that's life, I guess.

Urban is an executive in a very large organization. He also needs to understand that sometimes you cannot hold onto people, even if you think you can help them overcome whatever challenges they face, because the risk to return ratio is governed by forces outside your control. When that happens, you put not only yourself at risk, but the entire unit that you control.

I'm not saying that he did that, but to some extent, he will be carrying the responsibility for the decisions that he made. If you have been fortunate enough to have a mentor, and I have had some exceptional ones, then you will understand perhaps why he hung on to Zach Smith so long. I'm talking about someone who puts himself on the line for you, so that a special bond forms when you make that trust pay off.

She or he might get their return on taking the risk, but you still feel indebted as you age because you know what taking that risk meant in your life and how badly the risk that your mentor took on your behalf could have turned out if you didn't.

You also know that there is nothing you can do to pay the person back except to take risks for others in the same manner that your mentor(s) did for you.

Earle Bruce took risks for Urban Meyer because it was in both of their interests and Urban Meyer exceeded performance expectations. When you are in leadership, that is the best that you can hope for. Zach Smith, on the other hand, even if he did not act violently toward his wife, did not meet expectations. To me, it is that simple. Urban Meyer will learn from this. The error was not to take the chance. The error was to ignore that Zach Smith's behavior on the job proved that he was not Urban Meyer.
