For a school that rejected 55% of its applicants last year, what do you think the rejection rate was for 23 act kids? The average is pushing 30. The middle 50% range is now 28-31. The incoming Honors class of 1100 students had the same stats and was the same size as the freshman class at Dartmouth.

And I'm all for letting kids who don't make the cut out of high school transfer in after they've proven themselves elsewhere. Excellence does not need to go hand in hand with elitism or exclusivity.

And Ohio State is and should be among the creme de la creme of public universities. Anyone who doesn't want that for it and the citizens of Ohio can fuck all the way off.

Amen. My daughter has a weighted 4.43 gpa and a 34 ACT and is sweating getting in.

She'll get in, and she should (provided she graduated with a high class rank) get pre-selected for honors. Only question will be how much merit aid she gets. If, with those stats, they think Ohio State is her safety and she'll bolt to Northwestern or Cornell, they might hold back a bit. It's a strange, dysfunctional dance that goes on at that level.

In any event, congrats on raising an amazing young woman. Hope she ends up at THE.

Where do you get I hate Ohio State? I am just calling Bullshit on your arrogance. You come on this board and mock football fans, degrading us ball calling it "foosball". You claim the "foosball" fans give the University a black eye, and then make some arrogant remark about the lowly "24 ACT kids" and how they need not apply because there are so many other state schools below OSU where they belong because they can't make it at OSU. Then your arrogant remark about Woody and how he couldn't do the job of an OSU professor.

All of that is total Bull shit.

My daughter nearly left Ohio State because she was tired of classes being taught by TA's. The University I attended has a better reputation than OSU, had ZERO TA's on the entire campus, 93% of the classes were taught by Phd's, and I never had a class with over a 1000 students in it like some of OSUs have. My daughter was a TA as a soph, even though according to you she wouldn't be able to make it at OSU because she in fact had a 23 on her ACT, and she was a TA because she aced the class as a frosh and the professor asked her. Some classes consisted of her or one of the two other TAs showing up and pushing play on a video that the students watched. And the video was not of the professor, just a video the class watched, often a movie or documentary. I guess Woody couldn't do that?

So yeah, I love Ohio State, but your arrogance is hard to stomach around here. You, and the "likes on the board of Trustees", and ciddy must have a great time at those high end happy hours where only the 30+ ACT cool kids hang out? Geez. Give me a break. OSU isn't nearly as damn special academically as you want to pretend.

Honor and Glory, your daughter need not sweat an ounce, she will get in EASILY.
