Three Cooper years than the fan base can bitch all they want.We have to be the only team in the country.. that has fans, talking heads and media... clamoring for Meyer to step down... because he lost A GAME
Has to be the ultimate in spoiled
Right, so can we get on with the pitchforks and move on from this Meyer guy? We are riding a losing streak, it's Halloween and we need some blood.Bye week after a loss is like a concentrated version of the Offseason...
I agree with everything stated here. The biggest problem I have had with Meyer and subsequently his coaching staff is the ability to change/adjust. This is in game, game to game, season to season. Call it being stubborn or whatever but it is definitely the definition of insanity to continue doing the same stuff and thinking we’ll win or things will get better.I am not calling for Meyer to step down, get fired, or anything of the sort, but Ohio State shouldn't have games like Iowa 2017 and Purdue 2018. I'm not referring to losses, I'm talking about embarrassing blowouts to teams that will end up with 5 losses. Teams that turn right around the next week and lose.
Yeah, "Ohio State gets everyone's best shot." So does Clemson. So does Alabama. Ohio State has been getting "best shots" for years, and everyone loses a game at some point, but it's the blowout nature of those two defeats that is disconcerting.
It's not physical. If it was the Buckeyes wouldn't win the games they do and recruiting rankings would have to all be wrong. It's mental. Whether it's overconfidence, unpreparedness, or both, it's the head coach's responsibility to make sure that doesn't happen. There are upsets, and then there's getting your doors blown off by a double digit underdog. The latter should not happen to Ohio State under Urban Meyer.
Well Saban isn't coming here. So what would you do?I agree with everything stated here. The biggest problem I have had with Meyer and subsequently his coaching staff is the ability to change/adjust. If coaches aren’t performing move them along, if players aren’t performing bring in the next guy, if play isn’t working do something else, if the scheme doesn’t stop the other team change it. JFC it ain’t rocket science here.
Meyer is STUBBORN and his coaches take that same attitude. I’m tired of hearing we’re evaluating and we’re close. Fuck that nothing ever changes.
You want to know why Saban is successful, look no further than his willingness to bench his starting QB in the Championship game...
I’m not saying we do anything. I’m just stating the issues I see and that until Urban has a different mindset this is what one can reasonably expect.Well Saban isn't coming here. So what would you do?

This sounds like the blame is mostly on the players executing (whether that means they can't or the coaches can't get them to)....and I don't know if you meant those are the only options. I'm sure you probably didn't. But I'm starting to believe it's mostly on the coaches just not having good schemes. It feels like opposing coaches with less talent have a crystal ball that tells them what play we're about to run and they're able to just dial up the perfect counter to that. Game after game. You can get into a slug-fest with a less talented team here or there.....but it's been like that for almost the entire season and it's getting old.I am not calling for Meyer to step down, get fired, or anything of the sort, but Ohio State shouldn't have games like Iowa 2017 and Purdue 2018. Urban, your buddies on the staff all suck. It's not a secret. When you hire Tim Beck and the whole fanbase groans, that's a clue. When you hire Bill Davis and the whole fanbase groans, clue #2. Stud, another clue. It's not like you hire Grinch and he doesn't work out and there's a line 1,000,000 people long ready to say "told ya so"....because nobody could have been certain one way or the other with him. But when it's painfully obvious these guys suck THE SECOND THEY'RE HIRED, and they turn out to suck for the entirety of their tenure, that's a huge fucking problem. I shouldn't see a new hire and be 100% certain that he's going to suck for 2 years. I'm an idiot. But that has happened more than once. That's a problem.
The only time I've seen a pissed-off Buckeye team for four full quarters since the 2014 B1G CCG was last year's MSU game. Not sure what is more surprising, the fact that we have not had a angry, pissed off football team for years, or the fact that Urban hasn’t even seemed like he’s expecting that out of his teams the last couple years.

Not sure about his hires at other schools, but I wonder if Meyer relies too much on hiring friends because he believes they will support him and he can trust them more. One of the big deals he made in 2012 was that he needed a staff that he could trust and delegate to, rather than doing everything himself. Instead of putting faith in unknown hires that are better coaches, he gravitates towards trusted relationships.
