I don't even know what to say at this point. I understand numbers and the teams needs...but, to think of Ronnie Jr. without a Buckeye uni next year just breaks my heart. :sad: I'm going to continue to hold out hope that everything will turn out.

Mr., Mrs. Wilson,

You have raised a wonderful son. We all know how talented he is, but what I have seen from this young man is what sticks out in my mind. No matter what school he attends, he will thrive as both a player and a person. I hope and pray it is as a Buckeye because of how I know all the fans will latch onto him because of his personality and style of play. You should both be proud, as this is a reflection on the both of you as parents.

Taz,

I know everything will work out for you. You know how we all feel about you and our hope is that you'll be here celebrating a Big Ten title with us next year...but I can not stress enough how much we hope that your career exceeds that of any other player we've ever recruited. After all I have learned about you and in these times we've heard from you on the board, I think that I could root for you even if you were on the M*ch*gan sidelines (and you know how big of a deal that is coming from a lifelong Buckeye).

Like I said. I'm holding out hope on all of this because I've gotten so attached over the last several months. Also, I just think things will turn out okay for some reason. Lets hope my feelings are justified :biggrin2: .

Im sitting here in utter disbelief. I dont know what to say. The Taz needs to be a buckeye. Hes too good of a guy for the staff to do something like that to. The staff needs to rethink what they are thinking, they are acting ludacris, and its not right. Taz has helped me giving me tips and what not, and the talent is there, and we all know a great team starts in the trenches. No other verbal would make me happier then if Ronnie verbled here. :(

~ To Ronnie (TAZ) and the Wilson Family ~​


This letter is somewhat strange for me to write, for it is a letter that I wish did not have to be written...

Let me begin by stating that I am only a fan, but Ronnie seems to me in many ways to be a family friend.

Through the interaction of the Buckeye Planet Community, I have the had the pure pleasure and honor to get to know a highly talented High School Football player... But even more importantly an outstanding young man and human being.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilson,

You deserve credit for raising such a respectful and hard working Son. Ronnie is just a tremendous person with a truley bright and prosperous future ahead of him.

TAZ will always be considered a Buckeye in my mind, and more importantly a friend of the Buckeye Family...

I believe that friendship is a rare and precious gift, strong, stable, yet fragile, and never to be taken for granted.

For these very reasons I value the time, effort, and hard work that Ronnie has put forth to acheive all of his success, both on and off the football field.


Remember that a little love goes a long way.

Remember that a lot... goes forever.

Remember that friendship is a wise investment.

Life's treasures are people... together.

Realize that it's never too late.

Do ordinary things in an extraordinary way.

Have health and hope and happiness.

Take the time to wish upon a star.

And don't ever forget... for even a day...

I agree that it would have been great to have RW in this class and I wish him well, but I'm not thinking that the staff has done anything wrong here to the Wilson family. This is recruiting and as HH said in his post, this is how it works at all the top programs. The offer was available when the need (as determined b the staff) was there. If the staff has decided that the ship needs to go elsewhere based on current commits, returning players, etc., then that is what nneeds to happen.

I would guess that if anything changes between now and LOI day relative to the OL recruiting we may still see RW become a Buckeye. If not, then he will end up helping somebody else and the Buckeyes will have what they need to be successful.

taz, your the man! i'm around the same age as you and i can't imagine handling the recruiting process as well as you have. you're truly a great guy and we'll miss not seeing you in scarlet and gray next year. and you know we'll all cheer for you no matter where you go; just make sure you don't sign with a team that plays osu in the next 4 years:wink2: .

This sucks.

Good Luck, Taz. If you don't end up in Columbus, I wish you the best of luck in your career and every future endeavor. I would like nothing more than to see you in Scarlet and Gray. And the thought of NC State getting yet one more player that should have been ours makes me ill.

Is there a chance that, if Ronnie has to go elsewhere, after a year at another school, Ronnie might transfer here. Surely we'll be looking to add an O-Lineman or two next year.

While I agree that I think Ronnie is a talent we need, especially on OL... you can't make a blanket statement like that..

I'm as upset as anyone here about Taz not becoming a buckeye, but I'm sure there are players every year that OSU wants but cannot take. If they already have landed some good players at OL yet are struggling at a few other positions, they might have to make a decision like this. I hate it as much as the next person, but don't call them morons for passing on Taz. I think he should be taken, but we don't understand the recruiting dynamics behind the scenes in terms of the whole picture.

Either way, Taz, we wish you were coming to play for the Scarlet and Gray, but we will cheer you on no matter what jersey you wear. We might be a little upset with you if you end up beating us in a bowl, but we'll still applaud anytime your name is called on the loudspeaker.

However, I do not like the idea of the staff making written offers if they are not 100% willing to accept an offered recruit's commitment. If the staff is not sure on whether or not they want him in Scarlet and Gray, then don't offer. If they do offer, then they should accept the kid's commitment...period.

Absolutely agree...

I love the buckeyes and I bleed scarlet and grey. But, if you are going to put an offer on paper, then you should accept the commitment when it comes, regardless. This may be the way it is done at "all of the top programs" but tOSU is not just any program and we shouldn't be pulling a written offer off the table.

It is a sad day when a kid who truly wants to where the colors gets turned away while we go after kids who could care less about the school they go to as long as it furthers their career.

If this ends up being the end, I will be a little less proud of our team and coaching staff.

I feel as bad as anybody for Ronnie Wilson and his family. He seems to be a terrific young man and by all accounts a fantastic football talent. I hope that, at the end of the day, there may be some way for his desire to become a Buckeye to be realized. His addition to the already awesome group of offensive line recruits would be great for the future of tOSU program.

But this issue raises another fact of recruiting life that we confronted with Adam Myers-White: Offers at elite programs don't last forever. They can be withdrawn -- suddenly, but fairly -- by the institutions, if the needs of their football programs are met by other recruits. That sometimes leads to saddening results, as in Taz's case, but it's perfectly fair and appropriate.

Alex Boone, Jim Cordle and Kevin Bemoll didn't feel they needed to wait till November. They got offered; knew they wanted to be Buckeyes; and were accepted into the program. Plain and simple.

The lesson that recruits everywhere should learn from this and from the AMW episode is: If an elite program needs three guys, and you want to play there, don't be number four to accept.
