UF OL Ronnie "Taz" Wilson (official thread)

The lesson that recruits everywhere should learn from this and from the AMW episode is: If an elite program needs three guys, and you want to play there, don't be number four to accept.
i completely disagree. This is a life changing decision. You shouldnt have to work on some accelerated clock because some big time school tells you so. Take your time to make the right decision.

Mega,

I agree. The only time that I have a problem with something like this is if the kid verbals to the coaches and they pull the offer later. That doesn't seem fair to me, although I'm sure it happens.

Now, if the coaches got an in (silent verbal) with another lineman (like Doering or another highly rated player) and Taz's offer got pulled, then I understand. As much as I wanted Taz in scarlet and gray, sometimes you just can't wait around.

EDIT Doering may be a bad example because I believe you give a guy like him all the way to signing day to make a decision, but I think you guys get my drift.

It was a life-changing decision for Boone, Cordle and Bemoll too, Nation. Of course, a kid should take the time to make the right decision. But an offer is an opportunity, not a license. In life, if you don't grab your opportunities, you often lose them.

Ronnie's still going to be a Buckeye. Right? If, worst case imagineable, the staff has some horrid idea that they don't need Taz at this point, they can still change their mind. They can still learn the error of their ways! Until I see that Taz inks his name on that LOI somewhere else, he's a Buckeye commit.

Taz, lacking the eloquence and skill with words that many of those who have posted before me, I'll simply offer a thank you. You've become a favorite story of the year for this Buckeye, as well I'm sure many others. You won't easily be forgotten in these circles, and know you're always welcome here as a friend. That is, as long as you don't turn around and go to Michigan

I could see a lot of big programs calling Ronnie today. Now that OSU is out of the way, the phones should be ringing.

Hold on now...did OSU say they are no longer offering Taz at all, or that they're simply holding onto that schollie for now? Huge difference. Everyone is all doom and gloom, but there's still the possibility that the staff will release the offer back to Taz. There's no way we should not take Taz into the fold. You can never have too many top-notch OL, and Taz is most definitely top-notch.

I agree with you scarlet but he never said for sure if tOSU could not open the offer back up to Taz. The thing I don't understand is if they were not interested why they had him come to the biggest game for us. You would think they would be really interested to have him come to the game. I just wish Taz the best and wish he could be in S&G next year.

The last part of HH's post leads me to believe that unfortuneately we will not be seeing Taz in S&G.

It almost sounds like HH is bitter towards the OSU staff and is venting. But as he himself says, it's all on the staff, and if the staff should decide they have that schollie available to Taz...

There is still time for an offer...

Taz,

If you really are serious about looking at the Bucks, keep the lines of communication open... who knows what might happen. With that said, you also need to continue to look at other schools that have offered/ others you are interested in.

If you don't choose the Bucks... I wish you the best of luck. You've been a great asset to this board, and it has been a good experiance going through the recruiting process with you.

Again, you have been a stand up guy... I'm sure your parents are proud... Focus on your grades, and continue to do your parents proud!!

Regards,

-gbear

I thought the same thing while reading his post. The reference to the sun setting is what bothers me the most. It's almost like HH is saying just forget about it ya know?

I have been reading about Taz for a while now.

What I don't understand is that he is a defensive POY, but we are only recruiting him as an OL. Why are we not looking at him as a DT?
Has anyone seen him play to explain this?

If Taz doesn't end up a Buckeye, I have to say I'll be bitter as well. I am with you on the wait & see and hope for the best.

More than anything, I want Taz to...
a.) be successful in whatever he pursues and wherever he goes.
b.) remain on this board and stay in contact with us, no matter what happens.

I don't think he fully realizes what a pleasure it is for all of us to actually converse with a top notch recruit...especially one with such class. Many of us will harbor bitterness (Ala Dennis Kennedy/Dajaun Morgan) if OSU doesn't let his schollie offer stand, but I think Taz knows that those of us on this site think more of him than just another number for our football team. At this point, I am more concerned about a wonderful young man fulfilling his dream.

HelpingHand has this kind of relationship with many of the recruits and their families...It's got to really weigh on him at times like these. I appreciate his thoughts on the subject.
